If you are an entrepreneur, and you want to ensure that you always have great sales, you must learn to never stop trying to sell, even on your own personal time. This doesn't mean that you have to go out on your day off and start knocking on doors looking for sales. But, there are a number of ways that you can make your downtime really work for you, and increase your sales by improving your sales skills. For example, if you have a long commute, you are not really doing anything anyway, so why not use that time to improve your sales skills. Here are some great ways that you can use your downtime or lounging time in the most productive way possible: Read lots of books whenever you have some downtime: You may think that you don't have time to read, but you have a lot more time than you think. You can get a lot of reading done on your commute to and from your business. If you are on a break, instead of just sitting around, you can read. If you take an hour for lunch, this is a great time to get some reading done. Or, take a half hour or an hour before you go to bed to get into a book. Read everything you can get your hands on about sales techniques and ways that you can improve sales for your business. Read everything else too. Every piece of information you read is knowledge that may be invaluable in your quest for business success.. When reading is impossible, start using your cell phone: Sometimes, you are just not able to read. It may be too dark, or the roads may be too bumpy on your commute to make reading comfortable. You can still use your time productively by pulling out your cell phone and calling people who you can share ideas with and learn from. Networking is so important for all entrepreneurs, and your downtime is an excellent time to do this. Learn from other sales people who are excelling: You can learn so much by watching others doing the things that make them a success at sales. You can do this as easily as visiting the TED website at http://www.ted.com/, where there are some really great video talks that will help to motivate and inspire you to get more and more sales. You will see videos from Anthony Robbins and Zig Ziglar, and even find training programs from Tom Hopkins and others. You should also check out a number of sales related websites. A couple that may be of particular interest to you are Eyesonsales, http://www.eyesonsales.com and Sales and Marketing, http://www.salesandmarketing.com/. You need to be a great sales person to make your business succeed, and you can use all the help you can get. Read lessons from those who have already achieved success: There are some really great books that you can use as learning tools to help you improve your sales skills. Three that you should pick up and read from cover-to-cover are Losing My Virginity by Sir Richard Branson, How to Get Rich by Felix Dennis and Dell by Michael Dell. These are successful entrepreneurs who can teach you a lot about how the best sales techniques to use. These are all entrepreneurs who have started from practically nothing, and are now immensely successful. You can use their tips to be successful, and it is only going to cost you the price of a few books. What a wonderful investment.
