How To Get Railway Job in India - Tips and Tricks

The railway job is one of the most wanted jobs in India, and many individuals dream of getting a job in railways. This is because there are many benefits of getting a job in railways like pension and job security. Well, if you are want to get a role in this specific government sector and you are confused, then we are here to help you. Different positions Every year railway recruits thousands of candidates for its service. But you should know not all the jobs in Indian Railway are same, and there are different categories of posts in railway. The group A of the Railway is reserved for the Indian Railway Service candidates, and they have the gazetted rank. The Gazetted positions can only be filled through the UPSC exam, which is the Civil services Examination. The second category is the Group-B, and it is also a gazetted post, but there is no direct recruitment for it. You can only get in this group through promotions, and group C employees need to write a promotional exam. The third group is the group C which includes Junior Engineers and the depot material superintendent. It also consists of the NTPC, Technician, SSE and many others. Railway Recruitment Board conducts all the recruitments systematically. There is another group which is group D, and they are recruited by the Railway Recruitment Cells, also known as the RRC. Today there are total 21 Railway Recruitment Boards in India and all these boards are based location-wise. Eligibility for the railway jobs
  • For Station Master, Commercial Apprentice, Senior Time Keeper, JE, Goods Guard and Traffic Assistant, you need to have a graduation degree.
  • For the job of Ticket Clerk, Junior Clerk, Accounts Clerk, Trains Clerk and the Junior Time Keeper you need to pass the HSE.
  • For the Group D posts, you just need to be 12th pass.
  • For all these jobs you need to have the age between 18 and 30. Age relaxation is also there.
There is also another job which is in the Railway Protection Force, also termed as the RPF and there are two jobs that come under. One is the Constable, and the other is Sub Inspector. The minimum age for sub-inspector is 20, and that for constable is 18. How to study for the exam? To crack the RRB exam, you need to study hard, and many things come under this exam. Well, for Group A, you just need to clear the UPSC, but for Group C you need to study some extra things. The RRB exam has a general awareness section too, which includes, Economics, Politics, and History, Geography and Current Affairs and then there are some Railways related questions. You need to buy some good books to score well in this section. There is the section of General Intelligence and Reason. This section is there to check your awareness towards your brain, and this isn’t based on any formula. This section is generally straightforward. Then there is a section of Numerical Analysis for the ones, who are appearing for SSE, ALP and JE posts.
