Period pain can come in many forms. The worst complaints tend to be bloating, cramping, excessive bleeding and mood swings. No matter what your symptoms are, though, the fact remains that they can be annoying or even temporarily debilitating. If you often find yourself stuck in bed because of the emotional or physical discomfort of your period, you need help. That's why you'll be glad to know that there are many ways of getting rid of period pain quickly and easily.
Start At The Beginning:
First of all, you need to start at the beginning. That means examining your lifestyle. For example, if you don't get enough exercise, don't get enough sleep or have bad habits, such as drinking or smoking, you're likely to have more period pain than other women. Sometimes simply cleaning up your lifestyle and being more active can relieve or prevent major period pains.
Change How You Eat:
It also may be necessary to change how you eat, especially around the time of your period. It's important to get a healthy supply of vitamins and minerals in the foods that you eat. Calcium, magnesium and vitamins, such as vitamins A, C and E, can all be useful for reducing period pain. In fact, many of those vitamins and minerals can reduce bloating, cramping, and mood swings.
Some vitamins and minerals, especially magnesium, can even help to control the amount of blood you lose during your period. So, if heavy bleeding is often a problem for you, you should probably eat more foods that contain magnesium. In fact, getting more magnesium in your diet can also be good because it can prevent you from craving salty snacks, which can lead to bloating. So, it can be a handy mineral to treat both PMS and your actual period-related pains and issues.
Take Supplements:
You can't always get all of the vitamins and minerals that you need from the foods that you eat. Unfortunately, many of today's foods don't contain a lot of vitamins and minerals. What's worse than that is that many of them contain far too much salt and sugar, as well as far too many chemicals and additives. So, if you need an added immune system boost or you're deficient in certain vitamins and minerals, you may need to take a supplement.
The other good thing about supplements is that many of them also contain natural herbs. A lot of those herbs have been successfully used to treat PMS and other health problems for centuries by various cultures, such as the Native Americans.
For example, if you are plagued by PMS-related mood swings, you may want to take black cohosh, damiana or evening primrose. All of them have been successfully used to treat mood swings and period and PMS-related depression and those successes are well documented. Many of them can also treat aches, pains, cramps and bloating, among other PMS symptoms.
As you can see, getting rid of period pain is quick and easy, when you know how to do it naturally. You can't always rely on medications to treat a problem, at least not for long. If you want lasting results then you have to restore some balance to your body in a natural way and treat PMS pains by clearing up the hormonal imbalances and other issues that cause them.
