It is a common dream of most women that they can one day give birth to and raise a child successfully. Almost from the point of their own birth they are encouraged to think about becoming a mother one day, and make sure their child is happy and healthy in the home they live in. However, what is often not told is the detrimental effect that pregnancy has on the human body. Most women are aware of and wary of the added baby weight which is a common thing when giving birth. However, they are usually most concerned about the effect it has on the skin, stretching it. People therefore wonder how to get rid of stretch marks post pregnancy. Amazingly, half of all women who have given birth to a child report that they have suffered from this problem. But it is a misnomer to think that it is only those who are pregnant who can find their bodies marked with this scar tissue. Almost all women will find they suffer from it in some point, because they all go through puberty. There, the hips and breasts grow and the skin is tightened beyond its breaking point, causing small ruptures of scar tissue on the skin's surface. These markings on a person's skin occur when the body stretches its outer layer beyond its natural limits. The connective fibers which keep it together go beyond their limits and small scale scarring occurs. At first they look incredibly pink or red, but later fade. But they do not fade away sometimes, and remain as a blight on a woman's body. This has led to many women feeling very self conscious about their stretch marks. Luckily, there are a plethora of ways to make them fade into insignificance and sometimes remove them entirely. It does depend on how long they have been there, though. Those who catch them early while they are still in the red or pink stage have a high chance of total removal. They can often be vanished more than 90% of the time. If they are old (that is, if they have been around for several years and gone to the harder, white or gray stage) then there is a 50/50 chance of removal. It is important to note than in almost all cases (and in all but a few forms of treatment) this is not a one stop solution. They need to be worn down and faded out over time, not in one go. If people really want to do that, there are some ways open to them. Surgical treatments are costly and more dangerous. In reality, they should only be attempted as a last course of action if everything else has proven ineffectual. There are laser treatments, dermal abrasion works and chemical peels which can all alleviate symptoms. But there are more sensible, affordable ways how to get rid of stretch marks. Chemists will offer paraffin wraps which can be worn and soothe the skin. There are also countless creams, ointments and lotions which do the same work and cost less, and are less likely to result in a problem in the long run. It is a more natural way to deal with the problem.
