Therefore, you can do two things to get rid of wrinkles under your eyes, treat the wrinkles and keep new wrinkles from forming. One of the rare times that you should touch the skin under your eyes would be when you're applying a treatment cream. Look for one with the active ingredient glycolic acid as this helps to shed away the dead skin cells and encourage the skin to produce newer ones. The sun's harsh UV rays accelerate the breakdown of elastin and collagen. That is why it is important for you to apply sunscreen with at least an SPF 20. Look for one with active ingredients zinc oxide, avobenzone, meroxyl, or titanium oxide. When your eyes feel tired, you should look at anything in a shade of green which is far away. Resting your eyes is important. That's because if you don't you are more likely to squint which, if done repetitively, will lead to wrinkles. You should also avoid rubbing your eye area with your fingers when applying makeup, that's why it is often advisable to make use of a makeup brush. How you sleep can also impact the condition regarding your skin. If you're constantly sleeping with your face on a pillow it will eventually deepen the lines. The best way would be to sleep on your back with your head propped up on two pillows to keep the skin from developing wrinkles. Wearing sunscreen all the time during the day is one of the best preventive measures against skin damage. Ending your habit of smoking will also need to be done if you want to prevent the breakdown of collagen and elastin in your skin. Drink a lot of water and keep the skin hydrated. Eat a healthy diet to boost your skin's elasticity and natural glow. Use eye cream even before the wrinkles start appearing to prevent them. Of course, keep in mind that no treatment is a cure-all to eliminate wrinkles. OTC creams are not strictly regulated by the FDA, and there are certain products that can cause the problem to get even worse. For instance, eye creams with AHA must be followed up by a good sunscreen as AHA makes the skin more sensitive to the sun, so the key is to do research and choose wisely.
