When they go to their respective schools it becomes inevitable that they will learn something new everyday.
A child can go astray if only one step is taken in the wrong direction leading to the path of darkness. This darkness has swallowed up many innocent lives for many decades. The obvious reasons are smoking, drinking and drugs. All three of them are the worst enemies of life because they kill an individual gradually; it’s like slow poisoning which gives a painful death. The numbers of deaths due to smoking and drinking have risen by great percentages in the last few years and have reached alarming levels. This has made the situation even worse as teenagers are forgetting that they aren’t mature enough to understand the ways of the world.
Cigarette smoking and alcohol start at a very crucial age when the body of a student grows, it gets damaged extensively due to such activities. During this time period teens tend to become independent without realizing that they are only school children who are still engulfed in a closed cocoon. Teenagers are fickle-minded and usually get attracted to flashy lights of pleasure where they forget themselves and their identity too. This destroys their true self and they become mere puppets in the hands of a few individuals who are the real culprits.
The attraction towards smoking and alcohol is natural but peer pressure is one big factor leading to such devastating results. In spite of their parents’ continuous warnings and explanation they go in the wrong direction and fall directly into the pit. Parents should try to understand the pressure on their teenagers’ minds which makes them an easy prey. In many cases smoking and drinking are forms of rebellion from a teenager’s side to defy orders. This crucial stage of development has to be handled with utmost care and every situation should be analyzed before taking another step.
Restrictions and limits should be set for them in order to keep a firm control on their actions and activities. Parents should educate them by explain the aftermaths of their actions which can prevent them from receiving damaging results in later life. Smoking and drinking not only damage their present but future also gets ruined in it. While smoking destroys the lungs and slows down the blood circulation alcohol on the other hand damages the liver and makes the blood impure. Parents should cite all appropriate reasons before thrashing them when they don’t come under control.
They should set up a good example by first quitting both at their respective homes in order for their teenagers to follow them. They may feel that youngsters don’t listen to whatever they tell them but it makes a huge impact on their action which parents cannot realize. They should also show trust towards them in order to build a mutually understanding relationship for the future. With all corrective measures in place teens are bound to return to their normal self. We wish them a happy life ahead.
