There are many different ways you can improve your website’s SEO. One way is through using data about your website. The following are a list of four ways you can use site-search data to improve your Ecommerce SEO. Create Intriguing Metadata Metadata is the content that is highlighted when a search engine pulls up what it found about the inquiry. It is the headline for each website listed in the results. Because it is the first thing consumers see of your website, title metadata is the most important data on your website. Similarly to title metadata, there is also description metadata. The Michigan Tech University describes that in the following way: “Description metadata is the textual description that a browser may use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display—a concise and appealing description of what is contained within to encourage people to enter. A good meta description will typically contain two full sentences. Search engines may not always use your meta description, but it is important to give them the option.” Know Your Keywords Having keywords in your website will help search engines to link your website with a user’s search. If you have several meaningful keywords, your site will become higher ranked. When determining what phrases to use for your keyword metadata, be sure you have a variety. It is also important to have ten or more phrases. By doing this, your SEO will improve. One way you can know what keywords or phrases to use is to be familiar with your site search data through Google Analytics. Through doing this, you can improve your SEO because you know what your customers need. Have an Advanced Search Options If you do not have an advanced search option for your site, now is the time. Having advanced search options will improve your customer’s experience and make it as simple and pleasurable as possible. When you have that feature, customers can find what they are looking for quicker with less items to go through. There will also be less “no results” notifications sent to your customers. A professional blog advised in their article about improving your website through site-search data. They said the following. “Both synonyms and bigrams will have an effect on words without results- for example, if someone searching for boots enters in the term shoes and you don’t have boots set up as a synonym, they may get no results even though you have a section on your site related to the product. Similarly, bigrams like foot ball and football may not return results, especially in the cases of multi-word long-tailed search if your search platform doesn’t offer this functionality. Luckily, advanced site search platforms will automatically recognize bigrams via contextual cues based on the words around them, and take care of this for you, which dramatically increases the efficiency of your search. However, even if your search application recognizes these terms, it still helps to analyze these searches and then group your content in a way that is logical for your customers.” Have Good Content Even if you have great title metadata, if you do not have quality content, your customers will not stay long. Be sure you have engaging and helpful content on your website. Along with having quality content, be sure it matches what the customer needs. You can know what your customer needs through the site search data. Another way to improve your SEO through the site-search data is to recognize what words are not on your website. For example, if a customer searches for an item on your website and no results are found, you know you need to make some changes. If there are very many things searched for on your website that have “no results”, you may want to consider changing up your content to increase your SEO. rnNow that you have some ideas on enhancing your SEO, review your site-search results today. Doing this will help you know what your customers are looking for, what metadata titles or descriptions are working or not working and lastly what content you need to add or remove.
