There are many ways to increase IQ and here, we aim to reveal and explore some of the things which you can do right now, which will help to enhance and develop your mental powers going forward. Use The Square Attention Game This is a very unique mental training technique, which, in the scientific community is known as "N-Back Training". It was invented in its original version by Dr Jaeggi at the University of Michigan, and has been shown in clinical trials to lead to improvements in intelligence quotient, when used consistently and with dedication. The IQ gain rate is between 0.2 to 0.4 IQ points per hour of use. The game operates in the form of a sequence. Your objective and task is to select the correct ordering of colored squares and audible letters as they happen. You must select past squares and letters which match with present ones, and the levels get progressively harder as time goes on. The way the technique works is to enhance your working memory. This is the short term memory you have which is practical in nature, and improvements in this can lead to an overall boost in fluid intelligence, which is the technical name for your IQ. Meditate Regularly Meditation is an absolutely fantastic and enlightening way to enhance the power of your mind. According to the National Institutes of Health, which is a government deparment in the U.S.A, meditation can create profound changes in the way your inner neurology works. Dr. James Austin from the University of Colorado also did extensive research on the effects that meditation creates on the brain, by examining Zen monks. He found that the prefrontal cortex and cerebellum portions of the brain become re-wired after prolonged use of meditation (ie over several months). This has also been confirmed to be true, using Magnetic Resonance Imaging scans (MRI scans). Meditation simply has awesome effects on your brain, and you need to get using it now if you too wish to enhance and create a mind with a higher IQ. We recommend that you begin to meditate for at least ten minutes per day as an absolute minimum, and to dedicate fourty to sixty minutes as a one-off session, once per week. This will help to ensure that gradual and systematic progress in meditation is made over time. You can also try meditating "in action" which means you should keep your mind focused and free from wandering thoughts as you go about your day to day business. For example, putting your whole attention in the here and now, living in the moment and concentrating. This method has been advocated by Dr. Wayne Dyer, author of "Your Erroneous Zones" and Eckart Tolle, the author of "The Power Of Now". Both authors claim that living in the moment is a form of meditation which builds the power of the mind and allows your neuronal structure to change. It also allows you to create greater connections to the subconscious mind, so that your idea generation and creativity can increase. So, in conclusion, these two methods are exceptional useful tools that can be used right now, to help you improve your mental powers and IQ. There is still a lot of research out there which can give weight to the tremendous effects that meditation and the N Back training can do, but we will leave it until another article to explain those in more detail. For now, we recommend you always attempt to further your research, by examining the latest findings in cognitive science, neurobiology, Neuro Linguistic Programming and similar. These will give you a broad impression and understanding of the powers that the mind can possess.
