A sliding window opens and closes horizontally with a track in the upper or lower sections of the window. Typically, the installation of this type of window is done whenever an old window needs an update or replacement in a home. Also, remember that most window screens are relatively easy to remove. These screen frames almost never need a replacement; however, window screens may require replacement every few years. So installing window screens seems like a deterrent job, but with a little patience and the right tools, it can be done in no time. Step 1 - Measure the bottom of the sliding window ThenGathering the necessary materials, lay them out, and then use the tape measure to measure the bottom of the sliding window. It is the location where the screen will be located. See a small lip that will prevent the screen from falling. Then get the frame corner and frame piece from your materials or storage place. Step 2: insert and fit in the corner of the frame Place on a corner edge of the frame at the end of the frame piece. Press the corner of the frame towards the frame piece until it cannot move further in either direction. This will become the corner screen of your sliding window. Now measure and mark the bottom edges of the frame piece. Align the end of the tape measure, along with the tip of the inserted corner. Place the other corner of the frame on top of the frame piece just like the process when you inserted it. Also mark the piece at 34 ½ "using the edge of the corner of the frame as a guide. Cut the base frame piece. This places a groove or channel for your blades, and will also prevent your saw from misleading the mark. Continue to incise the frame piece to the desired size, for the base of the window screen. Next, you need to cut the other frame pieces in the same way as before. You now have two pieces of 33 ¼ ”frames, along with corner clips attached to the ends of the frames. Step 3: measure the height of the sliding windows Determine the height measurement from the bottom of the window edge to the top section of the window edge. The upper part includes a lip similar to the lower one, only a little deeper. You now also have your full screen frame, all connected with your four corner clips. Make sure that the screen you use can extend at least an inch and a half over all edges of the sliding window. Step 4 - Install screen Get the groove or rubber rope type material. Using the groove roller, slide the groove into the groove in the frame, making sure to pull the screen firmly. Continue until all sides of the frame have been grooved. Use the utility knife to cut off any excess fiberglass or screen materials. At an angle, place the top of the finished screen on the top edge of the sliding window. Push up enough, but not enough, to bend the curve of the aluminum. At this point, you already have the screen installed on your sliding windows.
