Everyone wants to have a peaceful state of mind. But, in this modern era, characterized with competition and conflict, it is easier said than done. Amidst steep targets, stiff deadlines, performance scores, work pressure, quarrels and clashes, our mental peace gets lost in thin air. Few below-mentioned ways help manage the daily anxieties and restore some mental peace.rnMeditationrnMeditation has lot of benefits from physical to mental to spiritual. If done correctly, practicing mindfulness helps us in managing our emotions, and also the stress levels associated with it. Realistic Goals or expectationsrnMany of us set very high goals like reaching a target income, buying an extra-big house, or something that is not very easy at the current state of life. Setting goals is fine, but to get upset when they don’t get fulfilled results is not right. So set relatively smaller goals such that you can achieve them without ruining your mental peace. Feeling of GratitudernAt regular intervals, we must remember the good things that have happened to us and be grateful for what we have in our life. This gives a feeling of satisfaction and a sense of calmness. With NaturernWalking outside, breathing in fresh air, taking time to observe nature, listening to birds chirping etc. give a soothing effect and a sense of well-being that energize our body and mind. ForgivenessrnWe lose our peace when we hold a grudge or prejudice for someone. Holding onto our anger will only burn us from inside. Rather if we forgive the other person, it results in mental peace; because by forgiving, we let go our anger and pain. This increases our nobility too. AdjustmentrnParam Pujya Dadashri says, "If you simply assimilate the phrase ‘adjust everywhere’ in your life, it is more than enough. Peace will arise automatically for you” If we understand in correctness that anything that comes to me is because of my own karmic account and not as per the other person’s wish, and accordingly adjust, this right understanding yields mental peace. AcceptancernWe lose peace because we try to change people or situations to become as we want. Each person is bound to have a different nature and set of habits. If we accept people the way they are, without seeing them at fault, this will increase the love and harmony in our relationships. Self-RealizationrnLet me tell you my story how I achieved peace. I believe this is the best way indeed for Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan says, “True peaceful state is that when one has inner peace amidst total lack of peace on the outside.”rnOne day, I was reading a book of Dada Bhagwan. It inspired me to go to Pujya Deepakbhai and with his grace I attained Self-Realization. Thereafter, I am able to practice separation between real Self (the Soul) and worldly self (my name, body, etc.) which keeps me at peace. Like everyone, I also come across adverse situations many a times in life. But I now know really WHO AM I and I also know on what basis situations come in my life. Therefore, rather than worrying about what should I do to change or improve any situation, I just work on applying the teachings given by Pujya Deepakbhai, so that adverse situations don’t affect me in any way. Earlier, living in a nuclear family, I had been giving over attention to my spouse and kid, which resulted in me keeping over-expectations from them. Whenever my expectations were not fulfilled, I would feel very agitated. But after Self-Realization, I learnt to maintain awareness that this feeling of agitation is in my mind (worldly self) and not in me (the real Self). I am Pure Soul, which is full of infinite bliss! With this, I would immediately experience peace. Further, applying the principle of ‘Fault is of the sufferer’, given by Pujya Dadashri, I realized that it is my worldly self’s own fault to keep expectations. Dadashri says, no one in this world has any control or power to do anything whatsoever. Whatever we experience in life is the result of our own karmic account. It means I am suffering because of my own karmas. Then, there is no point in seeing the other person at fault and blaming him. This right understanding helped me come out of my expectations and made me see that other people are not at fault. Whenever there is a conflict, rather than blaming others, I now try to analyze and find out what is my worldly self’s mistake in this. Doing so, I became aware of the behavior which was making the other person angry or upset. I started seeking forgiveness mentally, from the Souls residing in each of the persons, who had been so hurt by the behavior of my worldly self. Pujya Deepakbhai has always emphasized that, “Materialistic things hold no importance in front of a person’s emotions or feelings.” So, I try my umpteen best that no hurt is caused to anyone through my thoughts, words or actions. And yet, if any mistake happens, I immediately repent by remembering Pujya Deepakbhai in my heart and vow to him that I’ll not repeat the mistake. rnIt is said that “If we see a shaky thing, we also feel shakiness. Like wise if see someone who is calm and content, we also feel the very same.” Doing Gnani’s meditation and frequently recalling his teachings give me a great feeling of calmness and mental peace.rnTo attain Self-Realization from Gnani, and then staying in his company, follow his teachings, is to my mind, the best way to achieve mental peace with great ease, right here and right now!
