File security is an ever growing conce
as more and more businesses and individuals rely on digital data as their primary source of information. To make matters worse, people often are not aware or are ignorant about impending threats to their most secret files. Threats like financial data leaks, identity theft, and theft of intellectual property are the biggest threats businesses and professionals face today. If someone is determined to steal your private information, he or she will take vast measures to steal it. So how does one fight back? One of the most important steps you can take is to password protect your files using a Folder Locking software, which enables you to protect all your files located in a folder. Folder locking software enables the user to restrict access to certain folders and these folders can only be unlocked with the correct password; for extra security you have the option to encrypt your files, so even the most expert hackers are not able to access your folder. So who should use Folder Locking software? It could be anyone, be it an individual who simply wants to make his or her private files inaccessible by other users, or organizations that need advanced file protection from hackers and unauthorized employees.
Since Microsoft has released its latest windows operating system-windows 7. Few file security software companies have been able to adapt their file security software to meet the compatibility requirements of Windows 7, thus resulting in failure to secure critical files. However, there are a few good file security programs that are fully compatible with Windows 7. One of the best software that has been tested and works in perfect compatibility with Windows 7 is Folder Lock. This software enables the users to Lock, encrypt, and Back-up files to a cloud server. The best part about this software is that it is extremely secure, using the latest 256-bit AES encryption standards to protect your secret files. Once you download Folder Lock, it can be installed easily onto all variants of windows 7 operating systems. The following easy to follow steps will guide you on how to lock your files using Folder Lock on your windows 7 PC:
1. Simply open the .exe file, and run the installation process.
2. After installation is completed, you will be prompted to enter a master password. (It is recommended that you select the strongest password for maximum file protection)
3. After setting your password, click on the Lock Files tab, located on the top left hand corner.
4. Now, simply drag and drop folder that you need to lock.
5. Once you have done that, your files will disappear from the folder location by default and other users won’t be able to see that folder.
6. To unlock, simply double click on Folder Lock icon, re-enter your master password, and click on the “Unlock” icon which is located on the top right hand corner of Folder Lock’s menu options.
7. If you permanently want to remove protection on a file, you can do so by simply selecting that specific file and then clicking the red “Remove” button located on the top of the program menu.
