How to love yourself?
You can’t have a fulfilled life without loving yourself. After all, how can you love someone if you don’t love yourself? How are you going to achieve your goals if you don’t value yourself? Loving yourself means accepting who you are just the way God created you. You have to love yourself with your perfections and imperfections. Unfortunately, most of us learned that it is wrong to love ourselves as children.
When you love yourself, don’t consider this form of narcissism. On the contrary, this shows that you appreciate, respect, and love the gift that God has given you.
1. Start with physical appearance-
Get a piece of paper and list everything you like about your physical appearance such as hair, eyes, body, clothes, etcetera. Compliment yourself on the attributes you like in yourself. If there is something you don’t like, change it. If you don’t like your hair do, go get a new hair cut, if you don’t like your clothes, buy something new.
2. Forgive yourself
If you have done something you are not proud of, simply forgive yourself. Humans are not perfect and make mistakes all the times. If you are going to spend your time dwelling on a situation where you hurt someone’s feelings, then this is not helping you at all. We are all worth of love, so learn to forgive yourself and learn from your mistakes.
3. Always love yourself-
Do not stop loving yourself if someone does not love you. Learn that you will meet some people who will not love you and that is ok. Let me ask you a question, do you love everyone that you meet and know? Of course not and that is perfectly fine. You don’t need to love everyone and not everyone must love you. People have different cultures, different life styles, different religions, different political views, different thinking style and different tastes. Imagine if we are all the same. Life would be boring, wouldn’t it? The point I am trying to make is if someone doesn’t love you, don’t let that make you think or believe that you are not worthy.
4. Treat yourself-
Learn to treat yourself for something you like. Go join a club or an activity or buy yourself a nice dinner that you enjoy at least once a week. Start taking care of your health by exercising and eating healthy food.
Always remember that the most beautiful, worthy person in the world is you, so love yourself as you are a precious gift to humanity.
