Do you get tongue tied, intimidated, lost for words or feel anxious when speaking?rnWould you like to develop stronger client and peer relationships? rnWould you like to improve your leadership qualities? Delivering information to anyone including managers, business partners, clients, teams etc., is an essential part of today's business world however for many people the thought of standing up in front of a group of people speaking fills them with fear, anxiety and dread……. You have been asked to speak to a group of people to deliver information and this is an excellent opportunity to prove your leadership capabilities or to promote your business. You are knowledgeable about your subject, and possibly highly technically skilled. You have a lot of valuable data in your head but you have no idea where to begin. Everything is important and you don’t want to miss anything out! You’re not sure where to start, what to put in it and where or how to end. You make excuses why you can’t start it now. You promise yourself you will start it tomorrow, telling yourself you have plenty of time. It is a constant worry! You sit up longer at night filling your head with meaningless stuff from the television, maybe having an extra drink to put you at ease. You do anything to prolong the still dark hours of the middle of the night when you’re awakened by your over active mind flooding your head with opening statements, one liners and loads more very important stuff you need to put into your presentation! Then you lay awake answering the questions you think you are going to be asked and wonder if you will be able to answer them correctly and with expertise. The day you’re scheduled to deliver your information gets closer and you begin to panic, you get agitated with the people around you, your nerves are roar, your head hurts with all the stuff spinning and banging around! You become ever more confused, your solar plexus is tightly knotted causing deep persistent pain. You are in a nervous, and anxiety ridden state. The day comes and it’s your turn to speak. You’re hands are sweating your mouth and throat are drier than the Sahara desert, and there is nowhere to run. You just want to get it over and done with, and get out of there! Does this sound familiar to you? Yes, that was me until I learnt from the ‘best of the best’ public speakers, political leaders and industry experts how to put an effective presentation together, one that puts me to ease, hits the mark straight away, one that is entertaining, informative, on track and inspiring enough to motivate people to put into action my great solutions to their problems. I created an ‘Effective Presentations Template’ to simplify the process and to boost my confidence and effectiveness when I presented. Following below are the five essential steps to use when creating your own template- No 1.Spark Attention and Interest. In the first few minutes you need to spark your audience attention and their interest by using an opening question, powerful statement or activity that relates to your topic. It is critical to know your audience so you can use an appropriate opener. You don’t want to be too big and bold and you don’t want to give the impression you are weak and vulnerable. To engage with your audience you must communicate with humility and confidence for them to like you and most importantly have confidence in you as a speaker, leader or authority. This also calms your nerves and puts you in a position of control. No. 2. Your credibility. Let the audience know why you have the right to speak about the topic. They need to know what experience you have on the topic, they need to have trust in you as an authority on the subject. No. 3. The Pain. rnTap into the pain their problem is causing them. Tell an emotive story, point out the warning signs and the consequences that they could be in denial of or unaware of. No. 4. The Magic Pill This is the pill that will cure their pain- available only from you! Tell them what’s in it for them. How it will benefit them. No. 5. Call to Action rnLadies and gents, by adopting my ideas, you will gain.......you will save.. If you sign up for our newsletter or mentoring program today, you will receive 10% off.Trial my suggestion for the next month to monitor the benefits.Never forget to provide your own contact information! rnWhen you create your presentation in a template form it helps you decipher the most important points and information that you need for a powerful impact. It decreases your nervous tension and boosts your confidence tenfold and it increases your credibility, improves your leadership capabilities, and open doors to career opportunities.
