Want to know how to overcome the fear of asking a girl out? This article could help you. But first, you need to know that it’s not as easy as a smile and a hello for all guys.

Sometimes, certain things get in the way. You feel a lump in your throat and suddenly feel the need for fresh air. You think about how the whole thing would turn out, but never get around to actually approaching the girl. Or you may have gotten her attention, but then find yourself lacking for words.

All these things stem from one thing and one thing only. Fear of rejection. There’s nothing wrong with having a fear of rejection. However, unless you know how to overcome the fear of asking a girl out, your personal life is going to be filled with a lot of lonely nights in front of the television.

We can’t let that happen now, can we? So, here are some guidelines on how to deal with such a situation.

1. Build your confidence.

Confidence-building is one of the crucial steps on how to overcome the fear of asking a girl out. You can start by way of good grooming. Take at least one shower a day. Take care of your skin. If you have a bad case of acne, schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. Brush your teeth three times a day. Get a nice haircut.

If you’re slightly overweight, exercise. I suggest starting the day with a jog and spending at least five minutes doing sit ups, gradually increasing your time limit as your body gets used to it. Dancing is also a good way to shed a few pounds. Consider it practice for when you actually ask a girl to dance. All these things will give you a better body image of yourself, which will translate magnificently when you finally get out there.

2. Do your research.

There’s nothing wrong with having a little help when asking the girl of your dreams out. Ask her friends about her likes and dislikes. Does she love Italian food? What kind of music does she listen to?

By gathering all these data, you are equipping yourself with the right ammunition when the actual situation comes. When you feel prepared, you’ll be less afraid of asking a girl out.

3. Keep it casual.

Asking a girl out is not asking a stranger to marry you. It’s not as grand or as complicated as a lot of people make it out to be. I think that’s one of the reasons why so many guys have a hard time trying to overcome the fear of asking a girl out.

To get over your fear, keep in mind that this is no big deal. Ask her out in a casual manner. You’re not expected to proclaim your undying love for her on the first date. And don’t think that you have to take your date somewhere posh. The regular pizza place she hangs out at is fine, and so is that nice coffee shop around the corner.

To the guys who want to know how to overcome the fear of asking a girl out: I hope these guidelines work well for you. Just remember to fix yourself first, find out what the girls likes, and keep things cool.
