How to plan a prom

In the past, proms were organized by schools that rarely asked their student how they should do it. Fortunately, nowadays, more and more schools give the privilege of doing that to students who organize themselves into a special committee responsible for this important event. In this way, the proms have become much more popular as they are organized by students for students. The only problem that occurs, though, is that these students have little to no experience when it comes to performing such tasks. Many a time, the lack of it was often a reason for turning a party into a failure which did not win any popularity for the members of these committees. However, experience is not as crucial in this case as one may think. What is the most important factor here is the the proper organization of the event from the logistical point of view.

If you want to have a successful prom you have to begin your work at least six months before the party with creating a plan. However this plan has to be very detailed. It should specify what needs to be done by when, who is responsible for each of these things, and, most importantly, how much the whole prom is going to cost. This stage of your work is absolutely crucial, therefore, make sure that you and your colleagues give it enough thought and effort. To make things easier for all of you, create sub-committees, each one with different task to tackle with. Designate one group to take car of music, other group that will take care of food and beverages, and so on. In this way everyone will know what exactly they are responsible for and on what they should focus their whole attention.

A good distribution of work is half the success. The other half is to properly plan the finances of the whole endeavor. Once you know the approximate complete cost of the prom you have to think how are you going to get the funds to pay for it. You need to know that proms are paid for from fund-raising and tickets. Fund-raising is usually a monthly contribution paid by every student. How high should be that monthly fee depends on a number of factors: the price of a ticket, number of people willing to attend the prom, and the general cost of the prom. Having said that, as a final advice remember not to wait with selling tickets. The sooner you sell them, the better. Not only you will have the money to spend on the prom, but you will also know exactly how many people are going to attend the party, the information that is vital to the proper planning of the event.

Preparing a prom is a very hard work. However, as you engulf yourself in that work do not forget that you also have to prepare yourself for the prom as well. A classy suit or a beautiful prom dress will not appear magically in your wardrobe. After all, you will not be able to have fun even at the best prom in the universe if you will attend it unprepared.
