In this competitive world, it is very difficult to achieve success. One has to go through many hardships in order to achieve the goal. One such career option available to the students is IAS i.e. Indian Administrative Service. It not only provides a handsome pay and offers exciting incentives but also puts you one notch higher above the others around you. Even though it sounds a tempting opportunity to grab, it is not an easy job. One has to prepare thoroughly and study hard in order to pass the exams for IAS and fulfill his or her dreams. UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) which conducts to exams, IAS preliminary and IAS mains that follows an interview conduct these exams. In the preliminary exam, the optional subject is replaced by a general aptitude test common for all students called CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude test).Only after passing these stages with proficiency; you will be suitable for the role of managing the bureaucracy of both the state government and central government. Officers of Indian administrative service have a major responsibility to fulfill which aims at social welfare and smooth functioning of the bureaucracy. Therefore it is very necessary for the individual aspiring for this job to be ready to accept challenges and provide novel; solution to problems. Indian Administrative service comes under civil services. Everybody is well aware of the honor and respect this job brings along and on the other hand how difficult it is for the students to be able to crack these exams and come out successfully. Therefore, provided are some basic tips in order to prepare for your exams thoroughly and things that should be avoided to emerge as a winner in these tough exams: General knowledge should be your top most priority while preparing. Subject in general studies include geography, political science, English, economy, mental ability, current affairs. While information on the various subjects can be read from books and learnt instantly, current affairs section needs to be studied thoroughly. You can start studying from NCERT books. There has been recent change in the syllabus. The optional subject is replaced by CSAT, which is common for all students. This tests your ability for the required job. There are many books available, which provide guidelines for the exam preparation, which are very effective. You can always search on the internet about the kind of questions asked in both main and the preliminary exams. These tips if followed with conviction and a through study of the syllabus can help you pass both the IAS mains exams and preliminary exams, which are the windows to get into IAS. In CSAT, two types of questions are generally asked, speed test in which straight questions are asked testing the accuracy and speed of the candidate and power test has high standards but fewer amounts of questions.
