Measure One - Talk With Your Children. At the point in time where you and your spouse separate, you should sit down with the children and talk with them about the situation. By shielding them from the details, you avoid the risk of your children becoming a 'go between' between you and your spouse. Measure Three - Be Available To The Children. Regardless of whether you and your spouse are able to be civil towards one another, make sure that the children know that you are always available to them. By making sure they know this, you will help them overcome the often overwhelming feelings of uncertainty that children feel during the divorce process.
