So stay as far away from them as possible. 4.Participate in a stop smoking program – These involve people who were chain smokers who have successfully overcome the habit. Their success stories may inspire you to emulate them. 5.Keep your mouth engaged – Whenever you feel the temptation to smoke, keep a chewing gum ready at hand. You may be skeptical about it now but it is a habit that has worked for countless people. 6.Gradually reduce intake – It may be very difficult to give up the habit one fine day. So aim to reduce the number of cigarettes that you smoke daily. Keep tabs of these by noting it down on a chart and analyze the progress that you are making. 7.Take the help of doctors and pharmaceutical medications – Several medications are available in the market that can give you a similar high that nicotine gives and over a period of time, they also make you averse to nicotine. However if you still can’t get over smoking after having taken these medications, seek medical help. Doctors can advise, counsel and inspire you quit smoking for good. Remember that the earlier you quit, the better it is because it will give you a greater chance to live a longer and a much more fulfilling life. Quitting smoking will not only improve your quality of life but also those around you who continue to passively smoke while you are on the habit.
