A man took his time getting up from the table while his wife was talking. But all the time she was talking he was disconnected from everything she was saying, negating hearing even a single word. And he did not respond to what she was saying nor did he interact with her, other than what he had to do to be polite. Then the wife said: “Why are you disconnected from me, you don’t respond, you don’t hear a word I’m saying… it’s as though you’re not interested.”

And with that the man was shocked, he thought he had all the basis covered and everything was great. But the reality of the situation was much different.

So later he asked himself some powerful questions such as:

If I love this person and care about what she thinks and feels, why am I disconnecting from her? And the answer reveal it self to him as a still small voice within saying: I hear her say things over and over again, yet what she is talking about is important to her, and what difference does it make if I hear something a few times? I think it’s me, I’m not listening, and I love her and want to have a deep connection with her.

If I love this person and care about what she thinks, why am I not responding? And the still small voice said: For some reaso
I’ve became selfish and decided if something she said didn’t have to do with me, then I was not interest… and I should just let it pass. Yet if I love this person how can I do that? When she is passionate about something, she is would like my feedback, thus my wife feels validated and she feels loved… and we grow closer.

If I love this person and care about what she thinks, why do I have selective hearing? And the still small voice said: I’m afraid that I might say something that might hurt her feelings, so I choose not to say anything. NO - that’s a copout, I just don’t take the time and effort to interact. I’m a bit lazy and because of that ignore her. And that’s something I have to work on and start listening deeply and closely in order to love her even more.

And then the still small voice of said: If we don’t connect with the one we have in our life, we also are disconnecting from God… for God lives in the heart of everyone around us. For in essence what we do to the one in front of us, we also do to everyone else… including our divine connection to God, the Universe, and the One and Only. And if we disconnect from God, then how are we to love and accept all the people in the world… some of which are even harder to love? If we disconnect from one person, we also disconnect from the God that lives in all that contains the essence of divinity within… thus every rock, every tree, even every pebble in a stream becomes disconnected from our heart. And thus we disconnect from the world in general… and start to become alienated from the world.

Then all of a sudden the man understood the universal principal of love. That everything is connected, that nothing is separate, that it’s important to have an loving heart towards everyone and everything. And thus interacting, being passionate, and make a difference in the world are absolutely important to being totally in love with the world… and the God within all beings.

And from that day forward that man would listen intently to his wife, trying to understand every word she said. Not only that, but he also did his best to interact with his wife, and make conversation instead of not listening.
And thus he looked at life from a whole different perspective. Seeing the bigger picture and thanking God for the wonderful illumination that changed his life forever.

May we all have this great conversation with the still small voice within.

Many Blessings to Everyone
