So what is the best way of removing genital warts? This is a loaded question based on how far the infection has gone for you. One very popular method is removing them is with lasers. How does that work? What kind of lasers are they? Will it hurt and will the warts come back?

In this article, I will attempt to get rid of some of the doubt and uncertainty that goes along with genital warts and attempt to help you with making the decision on whether or not to undergo this type of treatment.

First off, as you may already know, genital warts derive from HPV, a virus that by some estimates affect 80% of the population! The majority of the carriers do not even realize that HPV is in there system and have no symptoms. But for some people, the presence of the virus can lead to an infection and, depending on the type of HPV, can lead to certain symptoms such as warts. In this case, genital warts.

Why would someone consider laser treatment? This type of treatment should be reserved for a more severe case of genital warts after some lighter ointment and auto-immune treatment have already been attempted.

Like any viral infection, catching it early is a key factor to improving the likelihood of recovery. When genital warts do go away for the early cases, they stay away for the majority of patients.

If your case is more severe then you may be a good candidate for laser treatment. Here are the facts:

1) Laser treatment requires anesthesia and you may be unconscious during your treatment. Lasers are typically used when the wart is difficult to get to and this treatment is highly effective against the warts that are targeted.

2) The tissue that is specifically targeted is called Condyloma, which is created by the human papilloma virus. The laser, which is nothing more than an intense beam of light, will heat up the tissue to the point where it evaporates the virus.

3) Hears the good news. Typically, laser treatment will remove 100% of the warts present. This is why the treatment is so popular. Unfortunately there is up to a 45% chance of them resurfacing after most treatments. But you will be well on your way of removing the warts with a better then half chance of them being gone for good!

In most cases, once the wart gets removed, it will eventually not come back. The body is good at adjusting and fighting infection. Some treatment is typically needed to help your body recover from an inflamed infection but typically will adjust to fighting the infection once it's weakened and genital warts will be a distant memory for you.

I hope this article has helped take some of the fear out of the laser procedure. With steady persistence, these warts will be gone from you for good!
