Prolog use of these doors often creates problems like door that never opens without sticking, binds on the carpet and have annoying loose handles. To fix them you don’t need to call for the assistance of carpenter or any professional from the company because you can fix these problems by yourself. Here are some quick tips to repair bifolds that don’t work right.
For door that never opens without stickingr
It is frustrating to have doors that never open smoothly or never open without sticking. It can be due to nonalignment in the door frame. It is simple to repair.
Close the door first and see the edge of the door where it lines up with the frame. Both the door edge and frame should line up parallel. Even if there is a gap of about 1/4 inches, the door may bind. It can be due to loosen top pivot and bracket, which might be forcing the door panel slip sideways out of alignment. To fix it, open the door and then using a screwdriver loosen the top pivot bracket setscrew. Now slide the bracket in the track until the door comes parallel to the jamb. Then firmly tighten the setscrew. Perform similar function for bottom bracket.
For door that binds on carpet
It is possible that you may change your carpet or get thicker pile which may bind your door while opening. To fix it, you will have to trim the door bottom, but before that you will have to remove carpet and measure the door height leaving ½ inches from the bottom. Now open the door completely by taking it out of the bracket and mark a cutting line at the back of the door using sharp knife. Using saw, cut the door slightly outside of the line. After cutting the door, you will need to knock the sharp edges of the fresh cut door with sandpaper and then coat the edge with sealer to prevent swelling. Now you can remount the door and you will have door that can open smoothly.
For loosen knobsr
It is really irritating to have knobs in the bifolds that get loosen and worse is when it comes out in hand with regular use. But, you need to worry, you can fix by gluing it. Simply, add a drop of epoxy to a loose door pull and screw it on to leave it for next 24 hours. You can use it thereafter.
