Japan also has all the methods of shipments you will need to ship your belongings anywhere in the world. No matter whether you are an expat leaving Japan or you live outside of Japan but want to send some goods to Japan there are ample ways available for shipping from Japan. Of course, certain rules and regulations with regards to weight and size come into play but having the proper knowledge of shipping from Japan can save you a good amount of money. So today we are going to tell you about the different ways available to send your goods from Japan. But before straightaway jumping into the ways available for shipping from Japan there are some basics you should be aware of: • The post office is not always the cheapest option available. There are other ways available that could save a lot of money. • The faster the transport medium, the most economic it is for smaller shipments. • The faster the transport medium, the more expensive it is for larger shipments. • Air cargo is the cheapest and quickest for smaller shipments. • Larger shipments like 1 ton or more are cheaper through sea shipment. • Customs clearance for smaller shipments through air cargo or courier or post is easier than larger shipments send through sea shipment. • Sending personal belonging and commercial cargo internationally from Japan have different charges as well as rules and regulations. Now that you have understood the basics of shipping from Japan it's now time to get familiar with the ways available so that if you are moving to Australia from Japan or going anywhere else or it's just about sending a parcel to someone residing in Japan you can select the right shipment medium. 1. Japan Post: Like any other country the local Japan Post is the most common way to send belongings or goods from Japan. You can choose EMS OR air mail because it is a quicker way than the surface mail to send personal stuff. But Japan Post is only convenient if you are not sending large or heavy items because the weight and size restrictions have to be followed. 2. Courier Service: International leading shipment companies like DHL, UPS, and FedEx Express, etc. is also a good way to send personal belonging or goods to Japan or from Japan to anywhere in the World. Of course, the weight and size restrictions decide the charges you have to pay. For instance, the charges to send a parcel of 0.5Kgs is minimal but could be costly if its weight is 45Kgs. 3. Air Cargo: If you have to send a relatively large parcel or package with minimum weight 45Kgs then air cargo is the most suitable mode of shipment you can choose. You can even send parcels weighing 5Kgs or 10Kgs but you will not get the discount as you get in sending a heavier parcel. 4. LCL (Less-than-Container-Load) Shipments: This sea service is best to choose when your parcel or goods is over the weight and size restrictions of the Japan Post or Courier Service. In LCL you will be charged based on "cubic meter". Generally, one cubic meter of pure water weighs one ton. LCL is not a cost-efficient service if you are sending a smaller cargo. 5. Full Container Load (FCL) sea shipments: If your shipment is very large, this is the most cost-effective service to choose from. The minimum weight of the goods should be 10 cubic meters. FCL service is available for almost all countries around the world like the USA, Europe, and Australia, etc.
