Do you ever catch yourself saying, “Had I known from the very beginning, I would not have….”? Well, for many of us, when hiring or getting new employees, we mostly want to fill the position based on the skills the person has (or claims to have). But three months into the job and we begin to notice a few quirks that are not contributing to the growth of the company (BPO Company) or of your team, instead becoming a detriment to everybody. Job hunts are in a two way street. And while the searchee is eager to please, here are a few things you ought to watch out for when trying to spot a trouble maker during your hiring interview:
Know-it-alls. While there is nothing wrong with asking them to critique your product or your service in their level of expertise, watch out for the arrogant ones whose talents may be terrific but fail to deliver on the social aspect or in a good way. Know-it-alls who go overboard during interview will not hesitate to act arrogantly in the office as well. Chances are he or she will act as if he or she knows better than the boss. You do not need that.
Schemers. The last thing you need is someone who manipulates situations in their favor. Try to find out what their biggest challenge was in their last company and find out how they went about dealing with it. Schemers usually bring down people with them. That or they get them into trouble just by being associated. Be wary of the schemers who seem to have a strong influence on other people (and by that we mean not in a good way).
Gossip kings and queens. Most human relations within an organization are shot down by gossip. You may not be able to identify this in the interview process, but you can be firm from the very beginning. Watch out for the office mongrels who spread rumors for their own entertainment. Find out what their relationships were like in their old workplace, how they react to hearsay, etc.
