The Role of Your Higher Self
Let’s look at the essence of your ego versus your Higher Self. Your ego lives in the world of fears. The main fear is lack, which translates as: not enough love, not pretty enough, not enough money, not good enough. These are negative and false thoughts that reside in your mind, which then create false images about yourself and others.
In contrast, your Higher Self, your true self in Oneness, is unconditional love, unending peace and expanding joy. Your Higher Self sees this in yourself and others without exception. It sees through the false images that your ego shows you. Your Higher Self is the truth about you and everyone; even the person you blame in your cyclical stories.
When you see through the false image of the person that you have blamed to recognizing their Higher Self in Oneness, you have now identified the separation between your ego thoughts and your Higher Self thoughts. Your job is to choose who you want to listen to.
Once you decide to choose your Higher Self then you must listen very intently because your Higher Self does not scream. Your Higher Self will teach you in a gentle and loving voice what you are to learn about yourself with each event that causes you stress. In this learning, you are shown a new perspective of seeing that event. If you choose this new perspective a miracle happens and true forgiveness takes place. Your willingness to learn and heal those wounds eliminates your stress.
Love always conquers fear. Each time you allow your Higher Self in to learn, light and love is shined upon those ego thoughts and slowly heals the separation between your ego and your Higher Self.
The World as a Classroom
Accepting your life as a classroom of learning helps you to be open to seeing with your Higher Self’s eyes. Relationships whether perceived as good or bad, provide each of us perfect opportunities for healing.
When you are in a relationship, think of the other person as a mirror of yourself. As you see all the good qualities in that person, you are truly seeing a reflection of those qualities that are in you. It is easy to see the good qualities with love and light.
Healing opportunities are presented when you perceive not so good qualities in that person. We all are resistant to accepting that in the mirror. We do not want to own those not so good qualities; especially since they reside in our unconscious. Resistance and defiance can rise up and out, and lead to many arguments, blame, and those vicious repeated wounded stories.
Consider another thought about those not so good qualities. Maybe they were not of this lifetime, maybe it was a couple centuries ago. The other person being the mirror for you is allowing that not so good quality to be seen so that you can see it, release it, and heal it. Now what have you been given? A Gift.
I understand, that in the heat of the battle it is not easy to step back and recognize this or even remember to practice true forgiveness. It does not matter when you step back, but it is important that you do. Time does not matter to your Higher Self, what matters is your willingness to perceive the situation differently and practice true forgiveness when you do remember and when you are ready. In my case it was over 5 years later.
In Part 3 we will discuss True Forgiveness and the Benefits
