You purchase an abundance of tools, DVD's and courses. Plus don't forget the journal for writing down your goals. No matter how motivated or persistent you are, no amount of visualizations or affirmations are bringing you a wooden nickel closer to your goals! And you are getting more overwhelmed by the minute.
Why isn't it working? Is it all a hoax? Are stress and anxiety my only rewards for my efforts? At this point many people simply give up.
Have you ever felt like you tried everything, but nothing worked? Are you sure you're looking in the right place? Here's a classic folktale, with an awesome moral:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A farmer and his wife barely eked out a living on their little farm. They were used to coping with stress, but things were getting out of hand.
"Frederick, we will soon run out of coins in our old purse. What will we do then?" the farmer's wife wailed.
"We're sure down on our luck, that's a fact!" agreed the farmer. "I'll have to set out tomorrow morning to look for work."
That night the farmer slept fitfully. Eventually he was startled by an amazing dream. He dreamt that a treasure awaited him in a village which was a three days' journey away. As he raced towards the treasure in his sleep, he discovered that it was buried in the backyard of a man named Jack. A tall, yellow fence surrounded the yard.
Frederick awoke in a cold sweat, determined to capture the treasure.
With the first crow of the rooster, Frederick was on his way in his battered wagon. He barely rested for three days staight - energized by his obsession.
He finally arrived at the village. After a few inquiries he found himself standing outside a large yard, surrounded by a yellow fence. He immediately realized that his dream had not been completely accurate: A burly guard stood right outside the fence, eager to take care of tresspassers.
Frederick's heart sank. After sizing up the situation, he decided to approach the guard, who was already eyeing him suspiciously.
"Hello my friend", Frederick said, with as much courage as he could muster.
"Who are you?", the guard gruffly replied. "And what in the world is wrong with you? You look like you're about to have an anxiety panic attack! Don't do it here!"
Frederick broke down. He told the guard in a choking voice, "My life is over! I had a dream that a treasure awaits me in this backyard, but now I see that there is no way on this earth for me to claim it."
To Frederick's dismay, the guard started laughing uproariously. When he finally caught his breath he bellowed,"You fool! Yourntraveled all this way because of a ridiculous dream? Well, if truth be known I also had a dream last night. I dreamt that a treasure is waiting for me under the fireplace of a miserable farmer named Frederick. Do you think I'm going to waste my time searching for him? Do you think I'm a total imbecile?! Go Home!"
Frederick raced home, dismantled his fireplace, and retrieved an enormous treasure chest brimming with gold coins and diamonds.
Needless to say, Frederick and Flora lived happily ever after.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the moral of the story? You guessed it! * The treasures you are looking for are in your own backyard.* Of course a map and a key would still be useful!
Here is a reliable Masterkey: "Put your heart, mind, intellect and soul even to your smallest acts. This is the secret of success."
Swami Shananda
And let these 7 soul-searching questions be part of your Map:
1) Am I doing this action merely because I am parroting others?
2) What is my intuition trying to signal to me about this activity?
3) Am I hyper-focusing on details, but missing the big picture?
4) Is it possible to increase my efforts exponentially by adding strategies that are already at my fingertips, e.g. EFT?
5) Am I perhaps following a rule I learned in school, "No Pain, No Gai
"?
6) Would it make sense to find a mentor to help me sort things out?
7) How is this activity actually distancing me from my real goal? We would be horrified to admit how often we fall into this trap.
