Having a sit-down chat with your partner about impotence is not an easy one but it is necessary to make certain that you are both having an open line of communication. Impotence can be treated these days with drugs like Cialis or Viagra, but even so having an understanding of the causes for impotence is a great way for the two of you to address the underlying issues and work toward a drug-free solution. If your partner has been afflicted with impotence, it’s important to understand that close to 80 percent of the time it’s caused by a physical cause and that the condition can be aggravated because of the emotional impact. The physical issues range from diabetes, blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and more. Your doctor will be the best judge of the physical causes that may have lead to erectile dysfunction, so be sure your partner gets in to see a physician as soon as the problem is recognized. While your partner may not want to speak about any erectile dysfunction issues, you need to bring it up with him. An open discussion about your sexual relations is the best way to get it out in the open and then get to a doctor to see how to address the issue. Chances are he will be embarrassed to speak with you and with a doctor but the only way to help address it is with honesty and caring. Avoid placing blame. It will probably be difficult to not blame yourself for the impotence. You may be wondering if you simply don’t arouse your partner any longer or if he is seeing someone else. You need to either address these questions as soon as possible or know in your mind that this isn’t the reason for the ED. Blaming him for not being attentive enough or paying too much attention to television or other hobbies or not being interested in sex will not help address the issue either. You need to talk about what’s happening in the bedroom but you want that the conversation to a neutral location. Don’t let your bedroom become a place of stress and worry. rnBe aware the some men simply don’t want to think about having erectile dysfunction and will brush it away or blame it on work or other outside sources. Try to be supportive but don’t let the issue go unresolved as it has the potential to shake the foundation of your relationship if not addressed. You need to understand that he will probably have a hard time talking to a doctor about this issue as well, so offer to go with him for moral support if possible.
