One herb known as a good remedy for hemorrhoids is Witch Hazel. This herb is the source of a particular astringent that has several medicinal purposes for acne and even swelling such as hemorrhoids. This is why several steps were developed on how to treat hemorrhoids with Witch Hazel.

1. Prepare the Witch Hazel Astringent

The first step on how to treat hemorrhoids with Witch Hazel is to acquire the herbal concoction from drugs stores or you can extract them by grinding the leaves and bark of the Witch Hazel plant, sieve it and mix with water. It is advisable to get the ready-made concoction to avoid the task of extracting and mixing.

2. Use Cotton or Any Absorbent Clothing

Surgical cottons are the best way to go to avoid the hassle of picking out small portions from standard cottons. Dip the cotton in the Witch Hazel astringent and directly apply to the hemorrhoids. Keep the cotton on the afflicted area for up to 3 minutes and change them with a new batch of cotton dipped in Witch Hazel. After a bowel movement get a new set of cottons dipped in Witch Hazel and apply again on the anus. Do these 15 minutes after defecating for 2 to 3 days. Apply new Witch Hazel dipped cotton when you are going to sleep to expose the hemorrhoids on Witch Hazel ove
ight.

3. Use Witch Hazel Suppositories

If using cotton dipped in Witch Hazel is not providing the expected relief then use Witch Hazel suppositories. Inserting one suppository into your anus per day is recommended and will keep the hemorrhoids exposed to Witch Hazel longer than cottons. Witch Hazel suppositories are also useful in treating internal hemorrhoids since they are inserted into the anus.

4. Avoid Constipation

No amount of Witch Hazel will cure your hemorrhoids if constipated stools are always straining them. Change your diet immediately if you also suffer from constipation with a diet that is rich in fiber and lots of fluids. Also, remember to take a bowel movement when you feel the urge to do so. Do not force a bowel movement, as this will also strain the hemorrhoids. Witch Hazel will prove to be more effective this way.

Remember that, like any medicine, Witch Hazel is only effective when applied properly. Learn how to treat hemorrhoids with Witch Hazel and follow all these steps strictly for optimum results leading to your relief from this irritating and embarrassing condition.
