Now that you know how to set fabulous goals that set you up for success, here’s how to turbo-charge them using the law of attraction (see my previous article The Top 5 Mistakes People Make with New Years Resolutions). You can work on one goal or several, although if you have lots and lots of goals, it’s probably best to prioritise them and work on the top 3 or 4 so that you don’t dissipate your energy by focusing on too many goals. Go with what feels right for you.rn1. If you haven’t already, make sure that your new year resolutions are worded and focused to set you up for success – see the top 5 mistakes and how to fix them, in the section above.
2. Write your goal down in a journal or on an index card that you can carry around with you or put up in places where you will see it. Writing your goal down is an act of commitment – a moment of decision. Your vibration goes from a wishy-washy "I want, I hope" to "I expect". It adds intensity and clarity to the vibration.
3. Write down all the reasons why you want to achieve this goal. What difference will it make to your life and the lives of those close to you? Doing this adds to your focus and starts the alignment of your vibration with that of your goal. It’s also a great set-up for step 3.
4. Take a few minutes now to imagine what it would be like if you had already achieved your goal. What would your life look like, feel like, sound like? What would be different? Where are you? What are you doing? How are you feeling? Who else is there and what are they doing and saying? Can you smell anything? Really get detailed and specific and make your images as big and bright and bold and colourful as you need to, to feel really fabulous. Play with it and tweak it until you feel really juiced.
You should experience everything as though it was really happening – that is, you should be looking through your own eyes, just as you are right now. If you look down you can see your body but not your face. In other words don’t put yourself in the picture, like a photograph or movie of the past, see it as though it was really happening right now.
If you recall a memory that you feel strong emotion about, you will likely find that you are seeing it through your own eyes, just as though it was happening again this moment. In NLP we call this being associated. If you have trouble feeling emotion when you visualise your goal, check whether you are seeing the images directly through your own eyes (associated) or looking at yourself in the picture like a photograph (dissociated). Change your point of view (to associated) and the emotion should soon flow.
Congratulations! You are now focused on and vibrating in total alignment with your goal. Give yourself a pat on the back! If you can, visualise your goal in this way for a few minutes each day. First thing in the morning, straight after reading your goal from your journal or index card would be a great time, but any time will do.
Each time you visualise achieving your goal and feel the positive emotions as though it was really happening right then and there, you add intensity to the vibration – like putting your foot on an accelerator pedal. A few minutes a day is enough, any more and you risk getting bored or turning your focus away from fulfilment to lack, both of which change your vibration from one of alignment (and allowing) to resistance (or not allowing).
5. Pay attention to your thoughts about your goal. Every time you think of your goal and feel the delicious anticipation of its fulfilment, you are allowing it (you are in alignment) and inspired idea after inspired idea will flood your consciousness, and taking action will be easy and fun. In fact you will feel so inspired to action that it would be almost impossible not to do it. This is how you allow your desires to unfold easily and effortlessly with the law of attraction and all the forces of the universe conspiring on your behalf for your success. This is how we are meant to create – allowing life to joyfully unfold moment by moment.
If, however, when you think of your goal, you feel doubt or fear or any negative emotion, then you are in resistance or non-allowing of your goal. If this happens, ask yourself "what is the story that I’m telling myself here", and allow the answers to come up. They will likely point to old belief patterns and subconscious programming that you can change using techniques like EFT, NLP, hypnosis, kinesiology, meditation, affirmations and visualisation. You might like to refer back to my earlier articles dealing with changing subconscious programming.
Make sure you stop and challenge any erroneous beliefs right there and then. Is it really true that (eg "I’ll never be able to do that") or is that just how you’re feeling in that moment? Remind yourself of all the amazing things you have done in your life already and know that you will continue to do more amazing things.
If that seems too difficult in the moment, change your focus off your goal and onto something you can feel good about – someone you love, your wonderful pet, a holiday or outing that is coming up – anything that can bring a smile to your face. Then, later, when you feel better, go back and start to clean up some of the old unhelpful subconscious programming that you have identified.
And remember, the more that you feel good, the more good will come to you.
The keys to success in manifesting with the law of attraction are focus and vibration. Steps 1,2 and 3 will turbo-charge your focus so that it becomes laser-like. Steps 4 and 5, done consistently, will clean up your vibration, reduce resistance and turbo-charge your vibrational allowing. Good luck with your resolutions and let me know how you go.
