So what exactly is social media? Social media refers to a large group of tools and applications available on the internet that permits you to interact socially with a diverse group of people. According to Wikipedia, “Social media are primarily Internet- and mobile-based tools for sharing and discussing information among human beings.[1] The term most often refers to activities that integrate technology, telecommunications and social interaction, and the construction of words, pictures, videos and audio. This interaction, and the manner in which information is presented, depends on the varied perspectives and “building” of shared meaning among communities, as people share their stories and experiences. Businesses also refer to social media as user-generated content (UGC) or consumer-generated media (CGM).” Social media presents a huge opportunity for growing a network marketing business. Attraction is the key to this. As you attract more and more people to your sites, you have more and more opportunities to grow your business. There are many, many sites on the internet that are free and that you can use to present yourself to your target audience. On these sites you can write blogs or articles and tell people about what’s going on in your company and keep them interested. Some examples of these sites are Twitter, Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon, Propeller and Reddit. But the total list of sites is enormous. Let’s look at Twitter. The first thing you do is to create a profile of your company. From there, there is a learning curve but you just start posting things that are going on with your company and following people, and it’s truly like an enormous networking party. You can post as many times a day as you want, and you can post on others pages too. One thing you want to make of when you create your profile is that you enable direct messaging and email notifications. Then when someone follows you, you can follow back and say thank you in a direct message. The best advice is to not “pitch, spam or sell.” Just be a real company person and interact with the people who are “tweeting” you. After time, you can include a link to your website or blog. In growing your network marketing business, you should consider strongly using Twitter. Research indicates that it is the fastest growing social media on the internet. Social media is a great way to increase and grow your network marketing business. It is worth the time to study and learn it or hire someone to monitor it for you. You’re missing out if you don’t use it.
