Facebook has become a popular venue to host technology brands, companies and organizations. Once you have set up a Facebook page, it is time to engage Facebook users through providing relevant information that will inspire online dialogue. Here are some simple ways to most effectively utilize Facebook as a tactic for technology PR. Prove you are human. Facebook users do not want to have two-way communication with an automated robot. They want to know that there are humans interacting with them via your company or organizations Facebook page. Do not use automated status updates and content. It may save time to share the same technology PR related content across all networks, but you will receive better engagement through customized information. If that is not enough of an incentive, keep in mind that often, automated content gets weeded out of users’ News Feeds. Another way to prove you are human is through getting to know your Facebook fans. Thank them for their replies and for sharing their opinions. It is okay to sometimes talk about things other than your company or organization. Involve your fans. This can be done through asking questions that inspire feedback and participation. Ask your Facebook fans to express their views on topics. Ask your Facebook fans to share your content. Ask your Facebook fans anything that you would like to know and you will be pleasantly surprised at how many of them are eager and willing to participate. Post multimedia content. Not only does this kind of content seem to be preferred by the News Feed algorithm, but it grabs attention. Technology PR practitioners can especially capitalize on this by posting demonstration videos and exclusive content. Be mindful of your post frequency and timing. Too many posts can overwhelm your Facebook fans. Try posting once a day while building up your Facebook fan base. Once you have more fans, you can increase to twice a day if you have great news to share. Remember that you want to make it worthwhile to be your Facebook fan. For timing, most people catch up on their Facebook activity at the beginning of the day or the end of the day and during weekends. In order to find the best targeted timing, pay attention to the response trends on your Facebook page. This will help you identify the frequency and timing that works best for you. Through properly utilizing Facebook for technology PR, you will be able to reach a variety of audiences and promote two-way communication.
