Crochet braids like here became very popular during the 1990s, but after 2000s this hair trend very quickly lost its popularity. Now we see crochet braids are back in fashion, but these braids are vastly different from the crochet braids of the 90s. Nowadays we tend to natural hairstyles that`s why hair used for crochet braids becomes much more natural looking. This is the main reason why such a gorgeous hairstyle is in great demand. Some people even may mistake crochet braids for someone`s real hair so natural they look like! By the way, today it`s possible to get the crochet braids at home by yourself (you even don't need to visit a hair salon) and this process takes you about two hours (of course, it may take longer depending on the style you wish to create). But if you want to try crocheting braids make sure that you really know what crochet braids are and how to wash and take care of them. What Are Today's Crochet Braids? When you're hearing the word-combination “crochet braids” for the first time you might think that it's just a new braiding style. But it isn`t! So crochet braids are considered as a method of adding extensions to textured hair. Besides, there are several types of crochet hair – already twisted, curly or even straight hair. Thus, you may choose what type of hair to add! Click here to watch the video on how to install crochet braids. As you see the process isn't so difficult. Firstly, you should do cornrows on your natural hair and then attach the extensions to them with the help of a special crochet needle. “What a wonderful protective style!”, you think now. But don't forget that you'll have to wash your crochet braids and maintain them properly to make this hairstyle last longer and look chic! How to Wash Crochet Braids? Crochet braids are so comfortable as they can last from two to six-eight weeks depending on how properly you take care of them. But the optimal duration is four weeks. In the case when you'd like to wear this hairstyle for a more extended period of time, a tightly curled texture will be the best choice! But remember to look fabulous wearing crochets you should wash them at least once every two weeks or once a week (if you want) and don't try to wash them more often as they`ll loosen and frizz faster. To wash your crochet braids you should take two bottles with nozzle or spray bottles (no matter). One bottle you need for shampoo and one for conditioner. Mix water with shampoo and spray this mixture on your scalp. Don't spray too much to avoid build up. After spraying the mixture, massage the scalp with the pads of your fingers to work up a lather and then rinse your hair with lukewarm water. Mix water with conditioner and spritz this solution on your hair to bring back the moisture and avoid further hair damage. Immediately after spraying you should massage lightly this solution to the cornrows and scalp as well as spritz some conditioner on your crochet braids from top to bottom and also carefully massage it into them. Then rinse out this mixture with lukewarm water from the hair. Now you should dry your hair. Gently squeeze out your hair to get rid of the water in it. For drying it`s better to use a microfiber towel or cotton T-shirt as when you'll wrap your hair with a cotton T-shirt or microfiber tower it`ll absorb the remaining water in it better than any other material. Of course, after that, you can use your hair dryer to dry your locks faster. Finish this washing with adding a moisturizer to your hair and crochets and don't forget to seal them with oil. You see that it's not so difficult to wash your hair with crochet braids, but here you should focus not only on your hair but also on the added hair. You should wash and condition the added hair as well as yours. How to Maintain Your Crochet Braids Making Them Last Longer? So if you add hair it doesn't mean that you shouldn't treat it! You must treat your added hair as you would your own one. The key thing is to spritz it almost every day with a moisturizing mixture (mix aloe vera water with leave-in conditioner) but try not to over moisturize it. By the way, when you're going to bed, cover your crochet braids with a satin bonnet or braid the hair up in one large braid and, of course, cover it with a bonnet or scarf. Now you know everything about crochet braids. So all you need to do is go out and install them.
