How to write blog content that gives you the results you want
In the process of posting many of our own blogs and consulting with multiple clients for business blogging services, we discovered that it helps a company from the start to be clear on what they are trying to achieve. with a blog
We have discovered that there are essentially three types of goals that businesses can achieve with a blog.
1. Increased visibility and traffic
2. Creating Thought Leadership, Authority and Brand
3. Lead generation and sales
Although the results of the first two objectives are difficult to measure in terms of numbers, the third is easier to quantify. A business blog can indeed accomplish all three of these goals, but it helps a great deal if the content you create is aimed at achieving the exact goal you want.
This is how we advise our clients to create content that meets these goals.
1. Increased visibility and traffic
If your goal is to create more visibility on search engines and social media, rank by important keywords in your industry, and get more traffic to your blog, your content should be optimized for the keywords your target audience is searching for.
It starts with understanding your audience, researching their choice of keywords and the places they prefer to "hang out" online. Then, we would create SEO content designed to boost search engine rankings and offer relevant information for the keywords and topics being searched.
The best rankings and social sharing not only help your audience find you more easily, but also increase your blog visits over a period of time. Almost any blog post can be optimized to increase search traffic and ranking, and these tasks can be easily outsourced, even for content you've written yourself.
2. Creating Thought Leadership, Authority and Brand
The type of content that creates thought leadership and authority is very different from the type written for SEO or lead generation. Authoring blog posts are intended to demonstrate your deep knowledge and experience with the goal of positioning you or your company as the leader or expert. "
This involves writing insightful articles and comments on topics that address a problem facing your industry or discuss cutting-edge research in your field and its effect on your business or products and services.
This type of writing is generally much more expensive to outsource because it is high-end content written either by you or by a domain expert who has a certain degree of knowledge and experience in your field.
Authorized posts are much more likely to be shared on social media, because when their readers share their cutting-edge information, part of their shine is contagious and helps them boost their own authority among friends and customers.
Blogs like Mashable and TechCrunch are great examples of thought leadership blogs and have an incredible rate of sharing on social media.
The best way to publish an authoritative blog is to write the posts yourself and have them optimized by a blog content writer well versed in SEO copywriting, so you don't miss out on the potential traffic you will generate through search.
3. Lead generation and sales
The type of posts that generate leads and sales are aimed at a very different type of reader, one who is looking for solutions that meet their needs, right away.
These posts generally address a problem that you know your audience is facing and presents a solution that they can buy or accept right away.
They work best if they contain buyer-specific keywords that are picked up by search engines or sent to a mailing list of prospects hungry for your solution.
The objective is to promote the action, in the form of subscription or sale of a product or service that is yours or belongs to another person. E-commerce portals often use such posts to advertise promotions and discount codes for vacation shoppers.
