Learning how to write persuasive copy is actually the second step to making your copy writing efforts more effective. Remember if people do not read what you wrote you have no chance of persuading them to do anything whatsoever. You must first learn to actively engage your readers so that your intended marketing message is fully delivered. Here are 3 tips on writing content which will help better engage readers when you are trying to deliver a marketing message to your audience. Focus on Attitudes Time experience and environment contribute significantly to the beliefs that many hold closely and strongly. In fact these beliefs often times dictate the actions and/or decisions of people. When focusing on your target audience you will likely already have a very good idea of the type beliefs they hold firmly. By identifying, addressing or appealing to these attitudes or beliefs in your copy writing you stand a much better chance of getting their full attention. You are now on a level with your readers that they can personally relate to and one that holds their interest! Address Aspirations If you know your target audience, and you should, you already know what motivates and/or moves them to take action so use this to your advantage. In many cases you can appeal to their hopes or dreams, speaking to them about the benefits and joys associated with fulfilling them. In this way you again have their attention and you can now shift the focus over to your marketing message which, of course, will help make their dreams a reality! By addressing something (their dreams) people already have a keen interest in, you do not have to rely upon your copy writing to 'create' an interest. What you are doing here is merely using something already of interest to readers to engage them. Touch Upon Emotions Digging a little bit deeper here you are now dealing with something more subliminal yet much more powerful as well! Pain, sympathy, envy or desires are all emotions that can help engage a reader and even make them take a certain action. By touching upon any or all of these trigger points in the right way you can bet that you will get the attention of people. As you speak to their emotions you are establishing a strong connection with people who will then be more compelled to read further. The key is to direct 'your' focus on 'their' emotions first since this is what they are most concerned with and in doing so you will be engaging them more fully. Remember it is 'always' about the person you are addressing and not what you are presenting them! Once this has been done your copy writing can than 'subtly' present to them the solution. The first step in learning how to write persuasive copy starts with gaining the attention of your reader. Copy writing is all about delivering a marketing message but this can not be accomplished if people do not read what you wrote. Your content must first reach out and grab the persons attention and in this way engage them more fully in what they are reading. The 3 tips on writing in a way that will more fully engage readers, as offered above, will help to do just that. Having the attention of your reader it is now easier to deliver your intended marketing message that of course will persuade them to take the action you want.
