A resource box is your calling card. It is where your personal information is published and must include several pieces of information. Having a resource box will promote your business and will give you the possibility of showcasing your writing talent. Publishers, owners, and readers are looking for good writers to help them in their marketing efforts and your excellent marketing article may be the catalyst that sends you on your way to a writing career.

The resource box should contain your full name. Don’t be shy. Many people who write an article and post it on a publishing website forget to use their name as a source. Marketing articles are great exposure; do not let yourself down by not giving yourself credit.

Include your website URL. Your readers will want to see more marketing articles and if you do not include the URL, readers will be left in the dark not knowing where to go to get more information about you and your products. Always use a few sentences to describe your product and let your readers know what is different about your merchandise. Keep your marketing article fresh and snappy. Online readers and publishers want good, well-written articles to bring traffic to their sites. This should also be your goal.

In addition to your name and URL you may want to include your business phone number, email and business address. Be very careful when giving out this information. You do not want spammers filling up either your inbox or you home box with junk mail. However, if your marketing article is good enough and the product or service you are offering has merit, your may be invited to give further information at seminars or speaking engagements. Anything is possible.

Give reasons for readers to visit your website. Article marketing is about driving customers to your website. Give readers a taste of what you are offering. Simple information on the opening page of your website will create enough curiosity that online purchasers will go into the body of your website to read what you can do. Do not disappoint them. Post information in your marketing articles that sounds fascinating and gives readers a reason to want more information.

As you write your marketing article, think about giving away free reports. This will enhance your reader base. Let your marketing articles be an extension of you, but you also need to avoid overdoing your resource box. If you have several websites, do not include the URLs of every one of these sites. Post only the relevant site. You are writing marketing articles for many products. Focus on that one product. Keep your achievements to one sentence or less.

Readers really do not care what you have done; they only want information and a reason to visit your website. Keep your resource box small. Be professional, give the information that you are an expert, but do not overwhelm your reader. Your resource box is a personal calling card not your actual marketing article.
