Every business provides employment opportunities to the various stakeholders associated with its operation and management. Wholesale business is not an exception to this fact. Wholesale industry provides employment not only to the owners but also to many other people involved at various other levels. When any person or institution provides services as part of the wholesale business on specific terms and conditions he is said to be the employee of the wholesale industry.
Wholesale industry is a very vital industry which is not only working to produce products at cheap rates to fulfill the needs of society but is also increasing the purchasing power of the people as it enables them to enjoy the amenities of life. Let us now discuss as to and how and whom the wholesale industry provides employment opportunities.
Manufacturers/Suppliers:
Wholesale industry provides employment to the manufacturers or suppliers and the staff they hire for the purpose of production. Manufacturers are the persons who actually produce wholesale products. They provide employment opportunities to the industrial workers and laborers who are responsible to create different products. They are responsible to devise new ways and tactics to control the cost and enhance the quality of the products by research, innovation and the use of latest technologies.
Distributors:
Distributors are the persons who purchase wholesale commodities from the manufacturers directly at very low cost and sell them to the wholesalers on profit. They purchase bulk quantities and sell them to the wholesalers for further distribution. In this way they act as the first link in a supply chain. Wholesale industry provides employment opportunities to many distributors and ensures them a regular source of income.
Wholesalers:
Wholesalers are the persons who either buy wholesale goods in bulk quantities from the distributors or from the manufacturers directly. The per unit profit is quite less but as they deal in bulk quantities, low per unit profit on large quantities accumulates to give them handsome profits to make their living. So, wholesalers are the important players of the wholesale industry and they sell wholesale products to the small retailers, brokers, agents, retail outlets or to the end consumers directly.
Dropshippers:
Dropshippers are the new entities that have entered into the wholesale trade to reap high profits by operating tactfully. They handle the entire shipping process by delivering the products at your doorstep. This has made the product sourcing from UK, China and India, much easier than before. It has also greatly made the entire purchasing process for the customers a lot easier.
Employees of other helping institutions:
Wholesale business also provides employment opportunities to the staff of other institutions aiding the wholesaler trade. For instance:
1. Banks provide credit to facilitate wholesale trade.
2. Insurance companies provide protection to the wholesale products against wear and tear or loss in transit.
3. Transporters are hired by the dropshippers and wholesalers for the safe delivery etc.
The business of these intuitions or the people involved in the entire process depends upon the wholesale business so indirectly the workers and laborers of these are getting employment opportunities through the wholesale business.
