It is not hard to put on the pounds and it happens naturally. Very often we don't notice that every day until we suddenly look ourselves in the mirror or step on the scale. But losing the pounds that you gained is a much harder challenge and most people fail to achieve this. Why? Restrictive dieting of course. How to lose twenty pounds and more permanently without diets Although the majority of people fail to lose weight permanently, there is a small minority that has done that. These people who are able to lose twenty pounds or more in just a few months and keep them off, no the secrets of fat loss. Well, not secrets but they just have taken a different approach. The problem that people very often have is that the calorie reduction is too fast and too severe. This sends the body into the starvation mode, making it impossible to lose fat. The key is to avoid that by reducing calories slightly one step at a time. So our bodies don´t notice the difference. Never rush into anything and don´t take desperate measures. Never rely simple on your willpower to lose weight. If you have foods in your house that you want to eat then sooner or later you will eat it. The best thing you could do is to eliminate the temptation all together. You can eat a few "cheat meals" a week but always eat in small amount and keep your calories under control. It is very easy to eat a bit of ice-cream or something and then easy a bit more until you have eaten way too much. The less food you have in the house the less choices you can make. That way it is easier not to slip. Also a very important part of losing extra pounds is having a proper exercise program, that consists of strength training and aerobic training. It is much better to burn calories with exercise than it is to burn them with diets. Strength training is actually more important than aerobic training because strength training boosts your metabolism so you burn more calories.
