In wide areas that a country or company can claim superiority over the other such as military might, financial clout and political strength, there will always be the great equalizer in the business world called human resources. In a world of post-war competitive race, even the seemingly diminutive political and business entities can run abreast the giants in terms of manpower. That is the very reason why human resource management play a very important role in any company’s developmental plans. Without a sound blueprint for mapping out the manpower development, any company will eventually go the way of the dodo.

Unknown to a lot of people, HR Department is the rudder to the company ship. Without it, there will be no proper steering even by the most capable of captains (or manager in this case). There are situations where a slight delay of a seemingly unimportant piece of paper can cause a degradation of a company’s overall performance. Without the HR’s supervision, this barely noticeable pebble in the procedural tracks will continue to slow down operations until past the point of just being an annoyance. In this kind of situation, a direct intervention can be done but in some serious cases, a serious restructuring of the organization might be needed.

There are a lot of areas that human resource management is invaluable. Through it, the top echelon management can insert and introduce company policies to strengthen the company. It could effectively facilitate a thorough performance review. Human resources is one of the facets of any company that needs constant care as one cannot hope to effectively implement a permanent set of rules with the steady fluctuation of workforce within the company. One rule that is acceptable to work cultures a decade ago might not be as effective now. That is where human resource management will really shine. With proper HR management, one can assess a company’s strengths and weaknesses, formulate policies that circumvent various production slow downs, implement rules that will foster better employee relations and plan ahead to cope up with steadily changing corporate landscape.
