In the past people have traditionally turned to hypnotherapy for help with modifying behaviors and also to find and resolve deeply hidden issues in their lives.
In the areas of building self-esteem, learning new skills and subject matter, and stopping smoking, hypnotherapy has been successfully utilized. It is not a surprise therefore, that hypnosis in weight loss is now being practiced to help many people to reach their weight loss goals.
Does it really help with weight loss? Yes it does help with some people. Because hypnosis works on the subconscious mind and uses the power of suggestion, how well it will work for anyone will depend on the person's acceptance of the suggestions made to their sub-conscious mind while they are under hypnosis.
In other words, it will work well with people who can keep an open mind to the process.
How can you lose weight using hypnosis? It does this by focusing on your habits and by using that to bring about modification of your behaviors.
The habits you follow are to be blamed for obesity and excessive weight gain, so when you substitute those bad habits for good habits, you will be able to bring about weight loss change that you can maintain in the long term.
To develop new, sustainable and healthier habits means that you should shatter the negative associations you have made between your weight, eating, food, the way you look and yourself, and create more desirable and positive associations in its place.
This is where the role of hypnosis in weight loss is clearly demonstrated. The obstacles you face are deeply rooted in your sub-conscious mind, and when in a hypnotic state, you will be able to defeat those obstacles that get in the way of your losing your excess weight.
Although many people are aware that a healthy diet and regular exercise are necessary to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight, they are at a loss to actually follow such a regimen. In most cases the reason for that is the negative or unhealthy associations we have made in the past that have become a vital part of the fabric of our daily lives.
They are so much a part of our lives that we never really question them at all.
But if we deal with those hidden associations on the sub-conscious level, we are able to deal with them and reprogram our thinking accordingly.
If you are having a difficult time getting results with different exercise and diet programs, and you constantly try one after another after another, what is actually happening is that you may be unconsciously resisting your own intentions to lose weight.
Because of this, any attempt you make to lose weight will not produce results.
It can truly be said that a certain state of mind has to be achieved and maintained in order for you to lose the weight.
You will only lose weight if you are genuinely willing to do so, and this is much more than just your willingness to exercise and follow a particular diet plan.
To be successful, you will need to create a winning attitude at the sub-conscious level, and that will become ingrained in who you are and what you do.
The role of hypnosis is to help create a new self-image for you and it will allow you to envision a new you and a new future weight. Through the hypnosis approach you will be able to take a stress-free and relaxed perspective on your weight-loss program.
It will build up your self-esteem, your enthusiasm and optimism and even before you reach your goal weight, through hypnosis, you will be able to envision the benefits you will gain after the weight is lost.
It is also important to realize that to be successful you will need more than just hypnosis.
To reach the level of success you are looking for, you must also practice a healthy lifestyle that must include a healthy diet plan, and an active lifestyle that includes both aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Nothing can replace those things in your life. Hypnosis will make it possible for you to maintain the right mindset so that your new routines and habits make you successful in achieving your weight loss goals.
