IAS also known as Indian administrative service is the administrative civil service of the government of India. The civil services IAS exam is conducted by union public service commission (UPSC) every year. The exam pattern comprises three including the prelims stage, mains and personality interview. All the three stages have to be cleared by the candidate to obtain a position as an IAS. Despite of the fact that the IAS examination is one of the most challenging tests to crack in india but the demand and increase in the number of students applying for IAS every year has increased to the maximum and will continue to increase as a career as an IAS is the most respected and rewarding. The IAS mains is considered as the toughest of all according to the ex-candidates and experts but the right preparation can improve the chances and enhance the opportunity to score high in the civil services main exam. The candidates applying for the examination should not only be well aware of the exam pattern and structure but at the same time should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to examination. The admission to all the stages is purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. From the academic eligibility to age limit criteria’s, it is important for a candidate to be eligible for applying to the IAS examination. The candidate applying for this examination should hold a degree from any university incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institution established by an act of parliament. Secondly, candidates who have appeared or plan to appear for the qualifying examination and are waiting for results are also eligible to apply for the prelims exam and after qualifying the prelim, the candidate can appear for the civil services main examination. For the Indian administrative service, a candidate must be a citizen of India, a subject of Nepal, Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee or even a person of India origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, east African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. The age limit must be at least 21 years and not more than 30 years as on 1st august, 2012 whereas, relaxation to other castes has also been provided to the applicants.
