If you are pregnant for first time then you must be anxious to know the developments that happen in your body and your baby’s body at different stages of pregnancy. This also prepares you for the changes you will witness in body. Here is a detailed description of developments that occur at 34 and 35 weeks of pregnancy. 34 weeks pregnant Baby Your baby at this stage is reaching the ideal birth weight and height and continues to grow to fill out in the entire week. The approximate height of fetus at this stage will be 18 inches or 45 cm and the weight will be 4.5 to 5 pounds that is 2.5 kg. The organ or system development is focused on lungs and central nervous system. The lungs are not yet functional but maturing properly. The brain is working in full contention establishing millions of connections that are required after birth. The fat layers are developed that regulate the temperature of body after birth and give a rounder appearance. The baby is also settled in the position from which birth will take place. Mum You will notice more fatigue than normal, associated with red swelling on stomach or thighs which is harmless. This is the time when you should take as much rest as possible because the tiredness will start dawning at you. Ladies might experience low BP due to insufficient blood flow to the heart. Remember not to jump from one position to other quickly when you are 34 weeks pregnant as this will make you dizzy or make your BP swing. 35 weeks pregnant Baby At this stage the baby is having small area to move around therefore the movements will be restricted but kicking will continue. The baby is now 18.5 inches in height and 5.5 pounds in weight. The exterior body is completely developed at this stage but the nervous and immune systems are packing up the remaining development. The kidneys and liver have started their functioning therefore babies born at this stage have bright chances of survival. The lungs are still not ready for outside life and babies keep gaining weight in this week. Mum In this week you would show stark weight gain that might go up to 30 pounds along with big belly that measures up to 6 inches above the belly button. This is the time when you should be planning for hospital stay and baby needs because it could be anytime now. The lightning or baby’s drop to pelvis might occur when you are 35 week pregnant or sometimes just before the labor. You are likely to feel heartburn, digestive problems and mood swings at this time. As the uterus is exerting pressure on organs you will urinate more frequently than before. Notice the changes in your body and report to doctors for anything that is severe or concerns you.
