Getting your logo in front of your target audience is a huge part of using business gifts. Whether it is to increase brand awareness in your own business or to draw attention to yourselves in a promotional exercise, using company gifts can make a big impression if used in the right manner. Deciding that you are going to use company gifts is one thing, but coming up with ideas for products that are practical enough to be used, cool enough to be desirable and fulfil your brand requirements is easier said than done, so where do you begin when coming up with plans for business gifts? Factor in Your Target audience Your target audience are the individuals who will receive your company gifts so consider which items are going to appeal most to them. The results of your business gifts are going to be decided by the exposure that your company receives from them and the effect that this visibility has on the individuals that interact with it, so using gifts that people are going to use and value is an essential initial phase. Consider Functionality Among the primary reasons that your gift is going to be visible is if it’s practical because the more often it’s used, the more it will likely be witnessed by both your recipients and those people around them. The success of promotional pens has hinged on this for years as people are less likely to throw away an item that will be beneficial to them, so even if you are trying to find a gift with a little bit more to it than a pen, these ideas still apply. Practical products like promotional flash drives can be a good place to begin if your recipients usually carry files on the move, whereas desk products will provide you with extra exposure if you're targeting office based recipients. Remember Your Brand Your brand is, after all, what you are using business gifts to advertise and there are two main considerations to make, is the gift I am selecting specific to the products, services or image of my company and does the item that I choose make our company details visible enough. On the first consideration, your brand doesn’t stop with the logo that you place onto your gifts. The object itself needs to have connotations to your products and services or reference an aspect of your wider marketing and advertising to have the maximum effect on your target market. If you have a powerful ad strategy or a unique brand image, use items that reference these to ensure that recipients do not have to see the logo to be aware of who it is promoting. If your brand isn’t as instantly recognisable then you'll need to make sure that the position in which you can fit your logo is instantly visible to those who are going to be viewing it. This is where clocks and calendars come into their own, working as a hugely noticeable advert for a company when featured on company walls. When considering strategies for your business gifts, bear each of these elements in mind and consider how they can appeal to both your audience and your brand to achieve the optimum level of success.
