Growing up, we have all been taught the importance of doing good! The reasons for believing in it, at times, may be different though. rnSome believe that doing good will earn us some merit points that can be carried forward into the next life while few others may believe that ‘my good deeds will neutralize the bad ones’. Yet others may feel that being human, it is our duty to do good and be a good humanitarian. But all in all people do believe that doing good is important. The law of karma says that one reaps what one sows. rnWhatever actions, thoughts and words we send out into the world come back (often magnified) to us in more or less the same form. That is why it is always advised that if you want good things to happen to you, you must always do good for others. When we do so, we charge Punya (merit) karmas which is like karmic credit that we get to avail of in our next life. If our Punyas exceed a certain limit, we can also qualify for a birth as a celestial being in heaven where there is an abundance of luxury. But once the balance of merit karma exhausts, they have to return back as human beings. Hence, it is true that by doing good karma, we get good results but we cannot come out of the karmic bondage that gives rise to endless cycles of birth and death. According to Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, both merit and demerit karmas are a type of bondage. When we bind demerit karmas, we qualify for pain and misery and when we bind merit karmas, we qualify for materialistic ease and luxury. But the give and take continues such that we are always binding new karmas and experiencing the effects of old ones. How does one come out of this karmic bondage to progress spiritually? There is certainly a way out! It is possible to permanently escape this cycle of birth and death by closing the account and neutralizing the karmic balance sheet to achieve the everlasting peace and eternal bliss. And the way out is through attaining the true knowledge of the Self!rnThe realization that, ‘I am a Pure Soul’brings about the awareness that ‘I am totally separate from the body, mind, speech, ego, intellect, etc. that I consider to be mine and I am not the doer of my thoughts, speech or action.’ This awareness prevents the binding of new karma. Gradually, the old karmas will bear their fruits and leave as we maintain equanimity during that time. When the last karma also leaves, one becomes completely free from all karmic bondage. This is the very state of liberation, of Moksha! How do we attain Self-Realization and progress on the path towards liberation in today’s day and age? When the society at large is plagued with so many evils, when it is difficult to trust even our own minds, let alone other people, when there are so many temptations all around us, how does one follow the path to liberation? How does one achieve Self-Realization? As expounded by Gnani Purush Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan, the path of Akram Vignan makes the otherwise difficult journey towards Self-realization, easy, accessible, and possible to undertake in this day and age. It is the living link to the knowledge of the Tirthankaras, who once graced this Earth and became the instrument for the liberation of millions! On the path of Akram Vignan, one attains Self-Realization merely with the grace of the Living Gnani, who has achieved this knowledge and has the spiritual powers to pass this experiential knowledge onto others as well. All that we have to do from our side is surrender ourselves and with absolute humility receive the divine grace of Gnani!!! After Self-Realization, our vision and the resulting efforts thereof automatically shift from binding of merit karmas onto not binding any new karmas. Following the teachings of Gnani thereafter, helps us progress spiritually and makes it possible to permanently come out of all karmic bondages and enter a state of eternal bliss!
