Immigrant Visa Information
Any person intending to travel to the United States to establish their permanent residence must obtain an immigrant visa before entering the United States.rnMost applications begin when a family member who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident files a Form I-130 petition with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) . In some cases when the petitioner can prove his legal residence in Guatemala for the past six months, he can deliver Form I-130 to the DHS office located at the United States Embassy in Guatemala. When DHS approves the petition, it will be forwarded to the National Visa Center (NVC) . The NVC will deliver to the Embassy all requests for immediate family members, or Immediate Relative (IR) in English. All preferred requests will be archived until the priority date is met . When the priority date of a petition is met, the NVC will collect all the necessary documents, schedule the date for the consular interview, and send the beneficiary (applicant) a letter confirming the appointment for said interview. When you receive the letter from the NVC or a letter with instructions on how to schedule your appointment, read all the requirements below and properly prepare for your interview to avoid any setbacks.
Appointment at the Embassy - Interview Requirements
Before the day of your interview, to create a profile and choose where you want to receive your passport. If your visa application is approved, Cargo Expreso will return your visa passport to the address you select. If you cannot create your profile before conducting your interview, you will receive further instructions on the day of your interview in the Consular Section.
All applicants, regardless of age, must appear for their interview. In case you miss your appointment, your visa application will only be valid for the next 365 days. The applicant who attends your interview must appear half an hour before the time indicated on your appointment sheet and the closed and sealed medical exams. USCIS Immigrant Fee
