Humans are social creatures by nature. Google and other search engines understand this well. This is the reason why social media marketing agencies bring significant values to everyone’s life especially in terms of professional growth and promoting services.

Being a part of the social media group, when Google launched its “+1” button in March 2011; it became a mystery for the users and content producers. Unlike the Facebook “like” button, it doesn’t directly share the content to a user’s social stream but the +1 feature defines to help the people to discover and share relevant content from the people they already are in contact with and trust on them. Users can employ the +1 button for different types of content including Google search results, websites and advertisements. Once the users share the content and information it is visible on the +1 tab in their Google profile, in Google search results and on websites with a +1 button.

So far this feature brought the description about the usage and sharing of the information by making use of the +1 button but it also brings greater significance in SEO rankings. We all know the roles played by SEO for generating traffic and highlighting our online businesses and the Google +1 feature has been implemented to enhance the SEO functionalities. Since the +1’d link has a chance at a higher Click-Through-Rate (CTR), the potential of the links to be shared increases whether on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or any other social network. Twitter and Facebook share and Google search results, a positive relation was discovered between the number of tweets and shares and the search rankings. This test further concluded in a result that the more links was passed around Facebook and Twitter, the higher the search engine ranking was resulted that further led to a better SEO.

The +1 feature has indirect effect on the site’s search rank but it has no relation with the number of links to the higher ranking in a traditional search result. The basic function of the Google plus is to connect people and Google search results. Instead of simply looking for the pieces of content that meet the SEO criteria, Google searchers might look for the recommendations for the web articles and the rating of their contacts by using the +1 button.

It may be frustrating sometimes to find that the contents are getting the priorities just because a contact has “liked” it in spite of putting so much of efforts in SEO practices. However instead of scratching your head the social media marketing company and website owners should take this opportunity wisely to expand their social presences to grow along with Google’s new and creative services. This new attempt is actually increasing weight to the website with strong social profiles along with other social networking sites. Thus, for social media marketing agency there is no better time to take advantages of the Google+ features at the very start of Google’s foray into social networking.
