In a Perfect World...

In a perfect world, if one is born from a human mother, has a brain, a face, a beating heart, organs, legs, and arms, then one is considered a human being. No one with half a brain would say, “Oh, look at that cute puppy, or kitten, or cockroach. Most intelligent people can recognize another human being when they see one. Or can they?

Since the beginning of time, there has been hatred toward people who are different. Because, after all, someone who doesn't look like you has to be inferior, right? You're the Bomb! And since you're the Bomb, it is up to you to divest yourself from those different looking humans. It has to be done! Best thing to do is kill them; get rid of them once and for all. But because it is psychologically difficult to kill someone up close and personal, unless you're a sociopath, something has to be done to make it easier to do the killing. What to do, what to do?

I know! Pretend they're not humans. With a few word changes here and there, you can turn a human into something subhuman. Then you can kill them guilt-free. Yay! You found a way. This is called dehumanization!

Let me share some examples. During the Holocaust, the Nazis referred to the Jews (who were, by the way, human beings) as “rats.” If one says something enough times, with enough conviction, there are scores of ignorant people who will believe it, no questions asked. These are the true subhumans, in my-ever-so-humble-opinion. Calling an entire group of people "rats" is a way to dehumanize them. Now, it's a lot easier to get eradicate those rodents; to send them away, separate them from their families, burn them up. Who cares? They're not humans, they're vermin!

Let's take a look at the Hutu ethnic majority in the east-central African nation of Rwanda. They decided that the Tutsi minority (who were, by the way, human beings) were “cockroaches.” That made it easy to kill off 800,000 human beings. Because, after all, who doesn't want to get rid of cockroaches? I know I don't like them.

Dehumanization is used because:

1) It makes it easier to “eliminate”—a kinder euphemism for “killing”—any group considered to be no more than rats or cockroaches; any group that doesn't meet your personal criterion, whatever that may be.

2) It opens the doors wide open for unimaginable cruelty and systematic murder of any group that is racially, culturally, or politically different from the people doing the dehumanization.

The groups that are dehumanized are used as scapegoats. They are blamed for everything that is wrong. Even the zit on your forehead is caused by that nasty Muslim who lives across the street.

Unfortunately, we are not living in a perfect world. Some humans have a great deal of difficulty recognizing other fellow humans. You would think that it's not that hard. But the slightest difference in color, beliefs, or dress, can confuse a dehumanizer quite easily.

The recent steady succession of dehumanizing verbiage against immigrants has resulted in untold violence. And it seems to be getting worse. It's frightening, to say the least, that today, in 2018, we might be seeing a repetition of the horrors that have already taken place in Germany or Rwanda. I'd like to think that America is above all that. But I'm no longer sure. Not when I read a tweet from our President that says, “Democrats are the problem. (Scapegoating). They don't care about crime and want illegal immigrants, no matter how bad they may be, to pour into and infest (Dehumanizing) our country, like MS-13.” NOTE: The MS-13 actually started in 1980 in Los Angeles, CA.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this...Democrats are the problem...they don't care about crime...” I know a lot of Democrats and Republicans. Most of them are really nice people. I don't know of one Democrat who doesn't care about crime, who doesn't care about illegal immigrants pouring into the country. Really? Are people buying this? Then there is the word “infest.” This is the most worrisome part of all. What is infesting America? What usually infests? Insects, termites, rats, animals, right? Not humans. Wow!!! I think it's safe to say that our President is dehumanizing immigrants. And so it begins. Unless we don't let it.

We must speak out against this. No human being is subhuman. We are all created by the same God. Live on the same planet. It belongs to all of us. Genetic make-up is random. We are not meant to all look alike, think and act the same. Diversity is beautiful.

There are a lot of you out there who are awake. Who can see the beauty and wonder of all humans. Who are fighting for their rights. Who are speaking out against propaganda and dehumanizing rhetoric. Thank you!

Let's have Zero Tolerance for anyone who thinks they are a superior race. The superior race includes, not excludes. Let's have Zero Tolerance for anyone who spews hatred and diminishes others with ugly words meant to reduce them to animal status.

We are all in this together.

We are all connected.

We all have a right to life.

No one has a right to take that away. No one!

Let's all work on making this a Perfect World.
