99.99% of job seekers don't think about the reason why a solid, well-written and compelling resume objective is that the resume is nearly always read on the web.

The bulk of website readers (70%) do not scroll down on the page when reading any form of writing on the web. Moreover, about the same percentage do not read the right side of the website.

For this exact reason, the objective must be the focus of every resume. Without it, the job seeker will not have the opportunity to interview for the positions that he or she wants.

Below, you will find two common job seeking scenarios, as well as sample objectives.

Going For Your 1st Managerial Position

Getting to the next level of your career, which is usually the managerial level for the bulk of the workforce, can be quite hard.

The majority of the time, a sales or marketing employee must be given the title by their current employer, as outside companies typically want management experience from their applicants.

However, with the right resume anybody can get to that next level in a new job and new company. The objective must be written in a candid, confident manner telling the resume reader that you are ready for the promotion and that you can carry the responsibility.

Here is an example:

"After exceeding quota year over year and quarter after quarter, I feel that I know enough about x industry that I can teach, mentor and lead a sales force to acquire a heightened market share."

A Sample Objective For the Job Seeker Switching Industries

Many job seekers fail to achieve their goal with regards to switching industries because they are not creative enough. To successfully switch industries and obtain a competitive, well paying position, you must know the industry jargon better than the applicants who are coming from direct competitors.

Moreover, you must show that knowledge in your resume objective. However, before you write this resume objective, you should put together a list of what you know about the industry above the sentence, as you have to remember that the higher something is on the page, the higher the chance that the website reader is going to read it.

Also, because so few readers scroll down, you want to pad industry related jargon and objective sentences on the top of the resume, thus pushing the unrelated experience further down on the page.

Something to this tune should more than suffice. For this particular example, we'll use someone coming from social media to an oil and gas related company:

"Exceedingly strong knowledge of oil & gas industry, global politics' effect on the pricing of oil, commodity-trading tendencies...

After spending 3 years of breaking quotas in the social media space, I have decided to follow my interests which lie in commodities - particularly oil and gas.

To obtain this position, I have spent the last 3 months studying the industry and learning the jargon so I am able to sell and market nearly any product better than those coming from an industry related company."
