Indian Destinations To Explore

There is so much to explore and see in India, there is no wonder it is such a popular destination for people all around the world. From Satpura national park to the Himalayan foothills, jungles and beaches and more. Here is a look at some of the popular places to visit.

Himachal Pradesh

A beautiful Indian state in the north of the country is found in the Himalayan foothills. Popular for its wonderful scenery and many popular tourist attractions such as the wonderful hill stations Kasauli, Shimla, Manali, Kullu and Dharamsala.

Uttar Pradesh

Another Indian state in the north there is also a range of popular places to explore and see. Agra is home to one of the seven wonders of the world, the Taj Mahal. Itmad-Ud-Daullah and Agra fort are each worth a visit. For something more spiritual or religious there is Varanasi, with several temples to visit as well as the Ganges Ghats, Banaras Hindu University, museums, and Ramnagar fort.

Kerala

Along the Arabian Sea, you find the lovely Indian state of Kerala located in the south of the country. It is a lovely and captivating destination with lush greenery and beautiful hill stations, spice plantations, terrific beaches, calm backwaters, wildlife sanctuaries, resorts, and great hill stations such as Echo Point, Munnar, Ponmudi, Wayanad and Rajamalai. There are a lot of options whether you want a relaxing break or something more active, or you are into adventure activities.

Madhya Pradesh

The literal translation of this state’s name is central province as it is found in the heart of India. It includes rivers, the Vindhya and Satpura ranges and is about 30% forest. There are three classifications of forest, Reserved, Protected and Unclassified. Only 0.2% is unclassified, 32.8% is protected and 65.3% is reserved. The highest elevation to visit is Dhupgarh at 1,350 metres and if you want something more urban you would head to the western and northern parts of the state. It has a number of parks and reserves including Satpura national park and the Satpura tiger reserve. If you want to try and spot a magnificent Bengali tiger this is one of the places to check out.

Goa

The smallest state in India is Goa and it is in the west of the country. It is small but beautiful and there is a lot to see. It is especially popular for its beaches and for the water sports you can enjoy on them. You can also visit a variety of convents and churches there.
