There are many things that make an affiliate program unique. It could be the additional training, back office support, nice sales page, or an user friendly website. These things are huge especially when a person generates a lot of traffic and needs a turn-key system to assist in conversion.

I would be the first to say that I am no affiliate marketing guru, and neither do I spend hours a day studying it. However, what I can say is that I have seen profits from different affiliate programs, and I have had the chance to see a variety of systems. Some are turn-key and some are more manual, depending on product and industry.

There is also a range in pay periods. This is very important because this determines when and how often you will get paid. Affiliate programs can be extremely lucrative rather supplementing your income or providing a residual income for your household. The issue is that many people do not have the success they would like with their affiliate programs. There may be issues with conversion or traffic in itself. Other times it may be a matter of over extension or lack of personal effort.

What I have come to realize as an internet marketer is that the main underlying factor is priority. It is hard to give priority to a low commission paying affiliate. It is even harder to put your focus and energy behind an affiliate that takes entirely too long to pay out its commissions.

There are others that take even longer, and have regulations in place that may decrease you commission over that time period. The best situation in my option is an affiliate program that has a good commission percentage, consumable products, and speedy payout.

These characteristics may not be easy to find, but there are some programs that fit these standards; or at least 2 out of 3. The hardest one of all to find is a speedy payout. Outside of creating you own products and Paypal account, this is almost non-existent; though not completely non-existent.
