Across the board, most yoga instructors share a common drive to help their students regain a certain freedom of movement that is directly tied to health, wellness and overall quality of life. Taken as individuals, yoga teachers each tend to have a different focus for this work, whether it is ergonomics in the work place or another area of life, health promotion and safety, disability management and case coordination, or some other aspect of healthy movement and living. It is true that your work as a yoga teacher most likely focuses on making students feel better and more informed, but it also is true that such work can involve close and physical encounters with each client. Even though these close and physical sessions are not invasive, like a needle or an operation, the work of a yoga teacher does affect the client’s body. Certainly, every yoga instructor hopes that his or her work has a positive effect on each client’s body, but there may be times when that is not the case. There could also be scenarios when the road to wellness involves one or more yoga teacher sessions that could be uncomfortable for the client. Yoga teacher liability insurance is there to protect you in case one of these clients decides that a yoga session resulted in damage or injury to him or her. Even if the client is totally off base in this assumption, you will still need kinesiologist liability insurance to protect you from the repercussions of such a claim. Though rare, such a scenario could indeed occur. At that point, the malpractice component of your yoga insurance would kick in to cover you and your business as see your way through to the conclusion of any legal proceedings. There are several other such safety nets that come with a high quality yoga insurance policy. Among these are product liability coverage, general liability coverage—also known as slip and fall insurance, and even rental damage coverage. One of the best parts about yoga teacher liability insurance is that it doesn’t have to cost a lot. You can find a solid policy for less than a couple hundred dollars per year.
