International Medical Journal publishes study on non participation in childhood immunization programsrnRecently in an international medical journal a study that evaluated the various reasons that were attributed or tied to the non participation of participants for studies that required blood testing. The main emphasis of this study was on childhood immunization and other disease prevention mechanisms. This assessment of the core reasons as to why participants withdrew themselves from these studies and the characteristic features of non participants were accessed. rnThe objective of the study was to publish a study which would address the issue of why participants shied away from these studies. At the same time this study is an immense benefit to scholarship, since very little or no research has been taken up in this area. Now, moving on to the basic premise of this study is that participants have a bias which keeps them from taking part in these programs. This study which has been published in an international medical journal goes on to state that there were a few overlapping features that were seen among participants. One of the reasons that were discovered during the course of this research study was that participants who faced negative experience previously steered clear of these studies. rnThe study stated that the method adopted to conduct this study was based on the studies that were conducted previously. It was based on multivariable logistic regression which was a characteristic feature that was found among participants. This probable bias was evaluated as well as analyzed using reverse probability. It was observed that the participants were quite sensitive to this nature of analysis, as per the study published in the international medical journal.rnFurthermore, the results highlighted the fact that those who refused to reveal or share their medical history was because they didn’t want to disclose private information. This is because a study of this nature was seen as a threat or discriminatory among those belonging to lower income groups, strata of society or those who had poor dietary habits. These were some of the predominant reasons that were ascertained and proved during this study. This study was relatively more successful than when compared to previous attempts as it was handled in a more sensitive manner. Also, parents who had small children as well as older children were more reluctant to participate in this study. rnThis study, started evaluated a particular sample group and aimed at evaluating the various aspects regarding it. It goes without saying that even while evaluating a small sample the sensitivity of the situation needs to be maintained. Only when the participants are comfortable with the researcher, their techniques and their opinions, then the research could be a wholesome one. There is insufficient data in the study published by this the international medical journal to arrive at solid conclusions, however this is a start.
